Greg swallowed. “It’s actually pretty simple. It’s a lot more about the person’s intent than the ritual, so it doesn’t matter if you can cast or not. You just, uh, need to make a circle around you, to prevent the angel from getting close. It doesn’t matter with what.” He pulled a large black marker out of his back pocket, but hesitated before handing it to Aiden. “I really don’t think you should do this.”
“I know,” Aiden said. He held his hand out. “I don’t want to do this, but it’s not for me.”
Greg blinked. “That might actually be a problem,” he said. He still hadn’t given Aiden the marker. “That’s the thing—you have to want to banish the angel. Like, really, actually want them gone. Lip service won’t do it. It has to be in your heart.”
“Fuck,” Aiden murmured. He took a deep breath, then swiped the marker out of Greg’s hand. “I’ll figure it out.” He wanted Eskandar to be safe. Hopefully that’d be good enough.
