Chapter 6

The next day she discovered a problem. Her strength was too much for her to control. Quite a number of plates were smashed that day. Of course she had reverted a small amount of the changes so she could live without always coughing up blood. Still she was strong enough, easily dwarfing the strongest human athletes or martial artists.

A large part of her morning was spent trying to control her newfound strength. By noon she had somewhat managed it. Around that time the landlord had woken up. She quickly apologized for the damage she had done in the morning and for the last night.

Thankfully Mr. Haru was not mad, so she was not scolded by him. She wanted to offer to cook, but remembering the last time she cooked, she chose not to. Getting food poisoning did not sound enticing after all.

Around midday Mr. Haru started cooking. He cooked various dishes, oyakodon, ramen and many others. It was a bit much, but she was really hungry. A side-effect of the change was heightened metabolism.

While he was cooking, she thought on why she had failed. She understood why though. First, she was inexperienced. That meant that a slight loss of control was dangerous. Secondly, she got too excited, making her lose control. Thankfully a hospital was near her back then, but what if when she did it again, because she would, she was not near one. She had to control her mental state better.

She also thought back on what she could have done to the heroes back then. She could have just as easily killed them, but she had managed to hold her destructive thoughts back. This worried her. If she ever entered that state again, she could prove to be a real danger to everyone.

A part of her mind though told her that it didn't matter. They were Villains that deserved to die anyways. But she refused to do it. She would become no better than them that way.

A clattering sound brought her out of her thoughts.

"Food is ready."

"Ah, thank you Mr. Haru."

Her depressing thoughts had been instantly replaced by images of the mouthwatering food in front of her. She began to greedily eat, not letting a single bite go to waste.

"Oi,oi calm down you'll choke if you eat that fast."

"Mhhh, ommkh."

"Don't talk with your mouth full. Actually I wanted to talk to you. I am disappointed in you. I knew that fighting crime would be inevitable, seeing as you are studying to become a Hero. But still, don't be so reckless. I know you are strong, but you are inexperienced in fights, no matter your martial arts training or quirk."

"I know, but I had to stop him."

"Gah, are you deaf? I just told you to not go head first into fights like these. Look, I'm going to be honest with you here. I was once a Pro Hero. I know how it feels fighting Villains. But I'm retired now. All it took was one battle and my career was over. My daughter had just entered U.A High, just like you and had a strong quirk as well. One day we were patrolling together, because she had an apprenticeship with me. Her mother had yelled at us, but gave in.

My quirk was <<Cut>> and her quirk was <<Cut& Close>>. Together we were an unbeatable team and we were quickly climbing up the ranks. Then one fateful day, she decided to patrol on her own. From what we learned later, she ran into one of the top Villains at the time. We only found her charred body along with various body parts from the villain she had fought.

What I want to say is, that I paid the price for letting an inexperienced girl go it alone and I would like to avoid that for the foreseeable future. Can you promise that to me?"

"E-eh, yes."

The mood of the table had visibly worsened, following Mr. Haru's story. Still she had seen the damage her actions had caused. Mr. Haru almost had his heart broken again due to her mistake. In an effort to change the discussion she asked.

"What does your quirk do?" She realized that that line of questioning would have the opposite effect, but to her surprise a rejuvenated Mr. Haru started answering.

"Good question. You know sometimes I feel that if I did not retire I'd be a top tier Hero. My quirk allowed me to cut almost everything with impeccable accuracy, for example the air. By cutting it open air rushed in to close the spot and brought the villains close. Of course it was very stamina expensive, but if I were to go through that quirk awakening phenomenon they say exists, I'd be unbeatable. Of course my daughter's quirk far surpassed mine, in power and versatility. I think I still have my Hero Costume somewhere if you want to see it."

"There is no need to, it may bring bad memories back."

"Ah, you are right it's probably a bad idea."

They got back to eating their food.

Misaka had just started taking bites from the other plates and was so amazed by the taste that she couldn't help but express her opinion on the food.

"This is so good!!"

"Want me to teach you?"

She hadn't expected such an answer. But thinking on the matter she decided it would be a good idea to learn to cook. She had mostly survived on ordering food or instant noodles and she had grown bored of them. So with gratitude she answered:

"Yes, please!"

After some time they finished eating and each went to do their own thing.

For Misaka that meant finishing her homework, something that would take a minimal amount of time, and using the remaining time to come up with uses for her ability. She had observed in her last battles that she had become a kind of brawler, and while she did not dislike that kind of fighting she wanted to develop her ability.

After all, here she was free from the curriculum which dictated what she would do, and she also had time to come up with uses not commonly thought possible. After all she controlled one of the fundamental forces.

Night had fallen. She didn't have the liberty to go out and she didn't want to betray the trust the landlord had given her. Still, while she could not test her theories, they were still useful.

One discovery she had made was that many of her theoretical abilities were either out of her control ability or too lethal.

The control needed to use them most probably belonged to Level 6 territory. Of course that didn't mean she couldn't try. If she were to advance to Level 6 she would do it on her own, by improving her powers, not by relying on other means. Doing it twice was already too much, not to mention she could not do it here.

Still, she had found new uses for her bioelectricity manipulation and magnetic control that were non-lethal, that relied on precise movements that were previously impossible. By controlling the blood flow in someone she could control them. Of course this could also be lethal, but she would avoid it. She could also shut down enemy nerves, without seriously injuring them and render them immobile.

She had also tried manipulating other forms of Electromagnetic waves but they were much harder to control for anything other than auxiliary uses. For example bending light around her to become invisible, or manipulating microwaves to keep herself in a normal temperature. Still the more proficient she became in using them and came up with better calculations, they would expand her arsenal by a lot.

She had another avenue for her powers, using radiation, but she didn't try doing anything with it, recognizing it as much too dangerous to use, for herself and the people around her, though she still came up with some rudimentary calculations, in case of an emergency.

And of course the ultimate use of her ability that she could only dream of doing, Quantum Manipulation, that if she achieved, would make her a scientific god capable of controlling the four fundamental forces and almost everything physics related. Of course this would be impossible for her Level 5 self, so she quickly discarded such ideas. She would be lying though if she said the idea didn't appeal to her.

The possibility to manipulate quanta gave her a sliver of hope in finding her way back to her world. But remembering who she had last fought with, such hopes were dashed. She would almost certainly need to find a magician of her caliber to help her return, and she had no expectations of finding magicians in this world.

She had written down her ideas and would experiment with them on the remaining two days of her house arrest, before returning back to school on Wednesday in time for the special surprise her teacher told her to expect.

Class 1-A PoV

Everyone had gathered except for one person. Misaka MIkoto. It was weird for Midoryia, who had gone to the same school as her, seeing as she had never missed classes. It was weird for her to miss classes. Many theories were made up, from her playing truant to her having special lessons due to her powerful quirk.

Any such speculations were quickly shot down when their teacher entered the room.

"So as you might have seen Misaka is absent today. That was because she got into a fight with a villain and got injured. Normally I wouldn't reveal this, but I cannot encourage such reckless behavior. You have to understand that you are still weak. And no before you start, I'm not only talking about your quirks. Have you ever fought a real Villain before?"

Nobody responded and the Pro Hero resumed his talk.

"I thought so. I have fought many Villains and one of the things they had in common was their ruthlessness. They will not hesitate to kill you if it meant escaping. That is why you are here in U.A. To be prepared to fight Villains in the real world and not hesitate when you come face to face with them."

Everybody had gone deep into thought and Midoryia tentatively raised his hand.

"Yes Midoryia?"

"Sensei, is Misaka-san alright?"

"Yes, she is, but she will stay at home for a few more days to make sure everything is alright and to reflect on her choices. Moving to other matters, today it's time for you to elect your Class President. Misaka will not participate, because she is absent, and you are forbidden from voting for her. Start the vote then."

That declaration threw the class into frenzy, everybody wishing to be the Class President.

After all the position, was one wholly suited for a future top Hero.

A loud shout interrupted the noise. It was Ida.

The tall young boy took it upon himself to calm down the class.

"Leading is a heavy responsibility, but not everyone is suited for it. If we are to have a democracy in here, I believe that our leader must be chosen through an election."

Of course some people objected, saying that everyone will just vote for themselves, due to them not knowing each other.

Of course Ida had accounted for that.

"Doesn't that mean that the one with the most votes will be the most suitable for the job? Sensei, will you allow us to choose through an election?"

"Do it however you want, just do it quickly."

With that the process started and ended just as quickly.

The results were largely as expected everyone voting for themselves, though there was a big surprise, that being Midoryia, who had 3 votes.

The one most surprised from this result though was Izuku himself.

Midoryia along with Yaoyorozu were elected President and Vice- President, with most of the people supporting them, praising their skills.

Sometime later at lunch time kids from all the courses gathered, adding up to a big number of students.

In a table a group of three had gathered; Uraraka, Ida and Midoryia.

There Midoryia was expressing his anxiety over being chosen as Class President. "I'm sure that Misaka-san is much more suited to the role. She's always so confident." Of course the other two dissuaded him from that notion with Ida even expressing the reasons he had voted for him.

"Ida, didn't you wanna be President too? You really fit the look."

"I told you before. Not everyone is suited for every role, no matter their ambitions. I humbly made the most correct choice for me, in the current situation."

"Wo-wow that way of speaking, Ida are you maybe a rich kid?" The excited Uraraka asked, completely derailing the discussion.

A flustered Ida answered. "I often try to hide it, but yes, I am the second son of a renowned Hero family. I aspire to become a great Hero like my brother, the Pro Hero Ingenium." His look had now changed to one of pride.

"Th-then Ida, did your brother go fight that winged Villain?" Midoryia asked. The event was relatively unknown, but the Hero fanatic Midoryia already knew all about it.

Just as Ida was about to respond, an alarm sounded throughout the dining hall and an announcement was heard. "Security Level 3 has been broken. All students are to evacuate in an orderly fashion."

The announcement had the opposite effect, those that knew its meaning that somebody had infiltrated the building, making the rest panic.

Ida, who was pressed to the window, managed to see who it was.

It was the press corps. Unknown to everybody, they had somehow managed to enter the building, through a breach in the wall.

Even though Ida didn't exactly know the situation he had to calm all the others down, in the absence of the teachers, who were trying to hold back the press. It was after all what his brother would do.

And even though he tried to assert some control over the situation, the panic was too much.

He had to come up with a solution to this problem and fast or somebody could be injured or worse.

'What would my brother or Midoryia do in this situation?' It was no coincidence that those came to mind first. Through his own eyes he had witnessed their heroic deeds and behavior in fights.

In a spark of brilliance, that incorporated his classmates quirk with his own he called out to Uraraka.

"Make me float." High fiving Uraraka, he felt weightless as he started floating above the crowd. Then he activated his own quirk Engine and accelerated at a fast pace. Unfortunately he had accelerated too much and slammed the wall.

'I have to say this in a short manner. Here goes nothing'

Still up in the wall, but now having his fellow student's attention he shouted. "There is no reason to panic. It's only the press and the teachers are keeping them at bay.

His announcement had the wanted effect this time and the student sea finally calmed down.

After the reporters were driven away, and the students back in class, the two presidents started the student council member selection process.

"Before we begin I-I'd like to say that I believe that …um… Ida is more suited to be Class President than me! I think we all saw how well he responded and led us in the crisis that passed. I think… that he is more suited for the job than I am."

Everybody agreed with that sentiment and Ida accepted the job, thus ending the Class President elections.

But still a question lingered in Midoryia's mind: How did some reporters manage to get in the world's most secure building?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the school's gate, the teacher faculty had gathered. The reason for the invasion was clear here. A big part of the gate had been destroyed, reduced to dust.

The weird amalgamation of animals that stood in front, recognized as the principal was looking at the destruction in front of him. His mind enhanced by his quirk, granting him unimaginable intelligence was thinking reasons for the attack.

"Perhaps, this was an instigated attack. A declaration of war maybe." And with that he left, leaving behind the baffled staff, who couldn't comprehend what he said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In an almost empty bar somewhere in the Kamino Ward, there stood a hand-covered man, sitting in a bar stool and talking to a monitor.

"I have failed Master. We were attacked at our own hideout, most probably by that fucker Vigilante that's all the talk right now."

"You didn't even fight them?" A voice answered from the monitor.

"If I may." Another voice joined the conversation. "We didn't know where they were and they were too dangerous to risk fighting them. Instead we let the lower Class Nomu with us deal with them."

He continued on. "After we left we watched the fight from the rooftops and surprisingly she turned out to be the winged Villain. Furthermore we learned that she struggled at first with the Nomu, but after she got those winds, a black lightning hit the Nomu and it was disintegrated."

"How intriguing… Thank you, Kurogiri. There will be no change to our attack plans. Do your best.. At the same time we will begin researching the Vigilante's identity and quirk."
