A Breath of Fresh Air

I won't bother writing a long synopsis. Tbh I just wanted to try writing a new one, maybe I'll have the motivation to write this one instead of my other novels. I don't even know why I'm explaining this in here. But if your curious about the novel then Ill write a 1 sentence long synopsis. A new VR game took the world by storm and so, our MC decided to play it.

Nice Sleep

Among the loots that dropped, one thing made Calvin smile from ear to ear. It was a leather chest piece armor.

[Bear Chest Armor, Middle 1st grade]

Level: 4

Requirements: None

5 Defence, 2 Vitality, 1 Endurance, 1 Strength

Durability: 10/10

This armor is currently his most rarest equipment that he got. He immediately equipped and smiled as he felt stronger.

Calvin looked around, rearing to go fight and test his new strength when he saw the surroundings getting darker.

"Ahh shit. It's night time." He frowned as he looked up and saw the sky is turning to dark blue already.

Looking at the time, he sighed in disappointment. "It looks like I'll have to do it later. Such a shame that I couldn't complete the quest in time before nighttime."

He turned around and ran towards the village. Its will be dangerous to grind at night where its dark and he couldn't see properly without light. He might have taken the risk if he has a light source but since he didn't have one, it would only be stupid for him to take a big unnecessary risk. And he didn't want to be stupid anymore.

After returning to the village, Calvin headed to the store again in order to resupply his potions and also to sell the materials he had in him.

He managed to sell all his materials he looted for 1 silver. After including the coins he looted and deducting the cost of the 10 health and mana potions he bought, he was left with a total of around a silver and 20 copper coins.

He looked around the store for a few seconds and find nothing that interested him. So he decided to leave but not before asking the shopkeeper for a good hotel.

Calvin looked at the system and checked the real time. He saw that its already nearing midnight so he decided to log out now.

NDO had given an announcement to the players about Genesis. While playing, even if the body doesn't move around, the mind does. That's why they heavily advised to still sleep in the real world because playing in the game can't replace sleeping for real.

Of course it was a given that some people wouldn't listen and force themselves to still play the game. In that case, it will be the player's entire fault and not NDO if something bad happens to them.

Since Calvin doesn't really have anything to do for now, he chose to log off and sleep for tonight. He can just play tomorrow so it was all good for him.

He didn't care about getting left behind by the rest at all since its not really impossible for him to catch up with the majority of the players.

Before logging off though, he first looked for a hotel to stay in. As for why, of course the reason is because of NDO again.

They said that in Genesis, the body of the player wouldn't disappear when logging off. Instead, the body will be put in rest mode, similar to sleeping. So they advised players once again to look for hotels or any place where their body can rest to avoid problems that may come up when a player is logged off.

It took him only a few minutes before he found a good looking hotel with the help from the shopkeeper.

The place was good. Its cozy and a pleasant place to stay in. The price is also good, only 15 copper coins for a night with meals included.

He ate the meal and was surprised at how realistic the taste is. Sighing in admiration, Calvin happily ate the unique and delicious meal given by the inn.

After filling his belly, Calvin headed to his room and immediately plopped down to the bed, feeling tired from today.

He logged off and his vision turned black for a second before finding himself back above the clouds. The scenery looked completely different than earlier as now the skies was filled with countless shimmering stars and twin shining moons.

He admired the scene for a moment before moving around and getting used to his original body.

NDO implemented this feauture when logging off so the players will have time to adapt to their original body because as time pass by, the disparity between their original body and their game character.

Obviously the players could do this in real life but NDO only stated this for their reason. "It saves time and also cool. Let's be honest, who doesn't want to experience standing above the clouds right?"

When he thought of that statement from NDO, he smiled and nodded, "It looks like even NDO has some cool people."

After adapting to his body, he shut down the virtual helmet and found himself back on reality.

He stood up and charged the helmet feeling mentally tired and thirsty. Standing up, he goes downstairs and drank water before finally going back to bed.

While laying down on the bed, Calvin thought back to the fun time he experienced in Genesis and smiled.

The fighting, exploring, getting stronger, but most especially solving mysteries and learning was the reasons for his fun time in the game.

For someone like him who loves playing games and reading novels and mangas, Genesis is the dream come true for him who has dreamed many times of being in a fantasy world.

He was so lost in his thoughts and imagination that even though he was tired, it also became harder for him to sleep.

It took him 30 minutes before he finally felt drowsy and fell asleep.

His last thought before closing his eyes is, 'I want to play with someone else too.'
