A Breath of Fresh Air

I won't bother writing a long synopsis. Tbh I just wanted to try writing a new one, maybe I'll have the motivation to write this one instead of my other novels. I don't even know why I'm explaining this in here. But if your curious about the novel then Ill write a 1 sentence long synopsis. A new VR game took the world by storm and so, our MC decided to play it.

Friends and I

While Calvin is in the taxi waiting until they arrive at the mall, he spent his time chatting with his friends.

Genius: "Where you guys? Mark, Gary and I are already here."

Yes: "Just a few more minutes till I arrive."

Lol: "I'm also here and just met up with the rest."

Gamer: "@Calvin @Darryl @Henric how about you guys?"

Weeb: "Otw. Just a few minutes left."

Kpop: "I'm stuck in traffic. I might be late by a few minutes."

Anime is Life: "I just arrived. Wait up I'll find you guys."

After spending a few more minutes chatting with his friends, Calvin noticed that they finally arrived at the mall.

Calvin took out some money from his wallet and paid the bill as he smiled politely to the taxi driver, "Thank you for the ride."

The taxi driver smiled back, "Your welcome sir."

Leaving the taxi, Calvin walked towards the mall's entrance. The mall was bigger than the average mall as it was one of the most famous malls in the city where Calvin currently lives.

Everywhere you look, signboards all over the place in the area around the mall could be seen advertising various things in order to gain more attention.

However, most signboards are only showing one thing that clearly stands out from the rest as a lot of people could be seen discussing about it.

That thing is the game that Madelyne talked about earlier. The game's name is "Genesis", the new VRMMORPG game that was recently released and will have its servers officially open up to the public tonight.

It was made by all kinds of groups ranging from companies, banks, scientists, the gaming community, even the government and many more are involved and have given a hand to its development.

But that was not the sole reason why it garnered this much attention from the public. Instead, the real reason why Genesis is so popular is because of the organization that was responsible for its creation in the first place.

The New Discovery Organization or NDO for short, a group of people with the brightest and most intelligent minds across the whole world. They were known for creating some of the ground breaking discoveries in the entire human history ever since its birth.

Due to their reputation in the world, many people if not the whole population naturally got curious about this game that they made, especially since this is their first time making a game. Adding to the fact that Genesis was made with the involvement of big shots and famous groups in the world, it was easy to see the reason why it was the talk of the day everywhere.

Calvin looked at those signboards for a moment as he gets excited to play the game and experience a whole new kind of game styles that the game promised.

So he walked faster to the entrance where they set up the meeting point.

"Hey Calvin!" the moment he arrived, Calvin heard a shout among the loud crowd entering the mall. He looked towards the source of the shout and smiled as he made his way over while waving to his friends.

There were already 6 of them there waiting for the group to be complete. The 6 were all young men and were nearly all the same age since all of them are 1st year college students. All of them are friends he met in high school and still is even now.

"And here I thought you wouldn't come with us." smirked Leo, whose nickname in the GC is Genius.

"Told you he won't back out." Richard who is Lol in the GC replied with a smile.

"Damn Cal did you get taller again?" Theo who is Yes in the GC exclaimed.

"I don't think so." Calvin said.

"You sure? I think you've grown again." Henric, which is Anime is Life said.

"Yeah I think you are taller." Mark as Gamer in the GC added.

"Want me to give you sauces Cal?" Fred smirked playfully. He is Only Child in the GC.

"Fuck off. I don't do it everyday ok?" Calvin replied to Fred's teasing.

The rest asked doubtfully, "You sure?" to which Calvin couldn't help but curse them all. "Fuck you guys."

All of them laughed as they spent the next few minutes catching up with each other while waiting for their last friend.

Soon enough, Darryl who is Kpop in their GC arrived and met up with Calvin and the rest. With the group of friends complete, they entered the mall and headed to the 5th floor where the game store is located.

"Have you guys decided on a class yet?" Along the way, Calvin asked this to the others.

Leo, "I'll probably go warrior."

Theo, "Ranger."

Darryl, "I want mage."

Richard, "I'm gonna go Defender."

Henric, "I'll go mage as well."

Mark, "I'll be rogue."

Fred, "Hmmm, still undecided."

Calvin looked at them strangely, "None of you dont want priest?"

"Of course!" all of them exclaimed.

Theo said, "Support is boring man."

Leo, "True. I want to be in the front instead of being in the back you know?"

Calvin shrugged, "Good point."

"Ehh? Then that means..." Fred started which caught the others attention.

"What?" Darryl asked.

"We won't be able to party up since none of us want to be a healer. Or at least some of us can party up but not all of us at the same time." Fred explained.

"Ohhh..." the group exclaimed as they realized this point.

"Well it doesn't really matter since I like playing alone you know." Calvin said.

"Yeah me too. But what we could do is party up sometime, just not all the time." Mark added.

The group agreed at his words as they made a decision to party up with each other sometimes.

Richard asked this time, "How about you Cal? You haven't told us about yours yet."

Calvin think for a few seconds before replying, "Same as Fred. It's so hard to pick."

"True." the group said as they thought about the time they spent on thinking which class to choose.

As they talked to each other, they finally reached the game store and noticed that there weren't that many people. Just right in the middle between full and empty.

"Good. We got lucky that the store isn't overly crowded." Henric sighed in relief as the others did it as well.

Without furder ado, they all entered the line as they waited for their turn. Not even an hour have passed and all of them have successfully bought the new VR headset that cost 500$.
