As the overweight daughter of the Sutton family, Kelsie is an eyesore to everyone. Her father can't wait to get rid of her, his wife and their daughter daughter too. The man she's supposed to marry can't stand her and looks for ways to end their engagement, all to no avail. But on the day she's to get married, she finds out she's pregnant. Her fiancé finally uses the opportunity to break off his engagement to her and her father sends her packing to her aunt in another city never to return after she refuses to remove the baby like he asked her to. Seven years later, she returns to the city to claim her position as the heiress of her mother's fortune, which her father and his wife and daughter has been living off of all these years. But not as the overweight duckling everyone expected, but as a stunning, glamorous woman. Behind her are three children: a daughter who looks exactly like her, a handsome son, and another handsome son who looks too much like the most powerful man in the city. Unexpectedly, the dimwit, her fiancé who broke off their engagement comes begging for them to get married like they were supposed to. "So what if you're stunning now and lost all that weight? Everyone knows you used to be an ugly duckling. Who knows the underhanded ways you resorted to to lose weight. Forget our past and marry me again." The woman looked at him and snickered. "Aren't you the heir of the Baker family? Why would you marry a fatso like me?" The man huffed and said arrogantly. "Hmph! Do whatever you want. But I assure you that no one in Silicon Valley will want to marry a woman saddled with bastard children!" The triplets came up on his face and snorted in disdain. "Who's this? Where is daddy when a man like this harasses mommy?” “I told you he wasn’t worth her. Hurry up and call him quickly.” The man who was in the middle of a conference call ended it as soon as he heard the news and went straight to where she was. “Are you hitting on my wife? Bastards? Are you calling the beloved children of Jett Adler bastards?” “Eh-what? Jett Adler? The most powerful man in the city? How is that even possible!”
The living room of the Sutton family mansion bustled with people walking around in their designers clothing. Insincere laughters rang out from every corner of the house.
Maidservants carrying trays of foods and glasses of champagnes hurried from the kitchen to every corner of the house.
In the midst of all these was the overweight daughter of the Sutton family, Jerry Sutton's first daughter, Kelsie Sutton.
She stood in front of the buffet table with her drowsy eyes lowered to the floor, paying no attention to the looks of disgust looks she was getting from everyone.
It didn't surprise her since she knew the kind of dress she was wearing. Despite being fully aware of how fat she was, her stepmother still suggested she wear a body hogging dress.
In her words, "She was the star of the night and should be noticed wherever she goes."
Her father didn't care about what she wore to begin with, so he just let her do whatever she wanted. Her step-sister as expected, agreed with their mother.
Kelsie, on the other hand, knew better than to refuse. She didn't even want to waste her breath on the matter. Not that anyone cared what she had to say.
If she refused, her stepmother would yell at her and say she was stubborn and disobedient.
Moving her body around all night made her exhausted and as she stood in front of the foodstand contemplating what to eat, she decided to close her eyes for a brief moment, but her tired body began dozing off.
Standing in front of the food buffet for several minutes attracted a lot of attention.
Especially from the group consisting of young people who were drinking and laughing with each other at the buffet table some meters away from her.
One of them saw her and tapped the beautiful girl who was dressed in a knee-length dinner gown that stopped just above her knee.
She was the prettiest amongst the girls sitting with her and it was easy to identify her from just a glance.
"Laura, shouldn't you do something about that?"
"I thought I'm the only one seeing this. Why do you still feed her when she's already so big?"
"Mmm, even if you don't feed her for days, she's fat enough to sustain herself until then."
"Oh, she's an eyesore, I can't bare to look at her any longer."
"If I were as fat as her, I would've killed myself by now. How does she even manage to live with her self?"
"Some people just have no shame."
Laura Sutton, who had been laughing the whole time as they spoke, stopped laughing when the last person finished and got on her feet.
"You guys, that's enough. That fatty likes to eat so much. It's her hobby. Instead of trying to dissuade her, why don't we suggest foods for her to eat?" She waved aside in a self-righteous voice.
Then she grabbed a plate from the buffet table and began walking towards Kelsie.
The others snickered loudly and grabbed plates as well and followed suit.
Following her, they each piled up foods on their plates and shoved it towards Kelsie.
"Today is your engagement ceremony, you should eat as much as you want. It's your day after all. If the food isn't enough, you can always tell the chefs to make you more."
Laura burst into laughter after saying that and the others did the same.
However, Kelsie didn't budge.
The laughter soon died down when the others saw that she didn't respond and Laura's cheeks subtly heated up in embarrassment.
She stepped closer to her and poked her twice on the shoulder. "Hey, didn't you hear me?"
Kelsie just sucked in a deep breath and continued sleeping.
Irritation flashed past Laura's eyes and she seethed in rage. She was about to do something when a familiar voice suddenly came from behind her.
"What is going on here?"
Laura and her friends turned to see a man dressed in expensive suit and an expensive rolex on his left hand cradling a plate with more than half of the food in it still remaining standing behind them with his brows raised questioningly.
When those who knew he was saw him, they left what they were doing and turned to him with rapt attention.
Others who didn't know his identity, asked and when they were told, they also paid rapt attention to him.
Laura locked eyes with him and bit down on her lower lip for a moment before saying coquettishly, "Nothing that important, Bryan. We were just making sure Kelsie had enough to eat."
"She's been standing in front of the buffet table for far too long, so I assumed she needed help deciding what to eat and the portions that'd be enough for her."
"So I came to help her out."
"Is that so?" The man chuckled and stepped forward.
He didn't bother to hide the disdain and distaste he felt as he dumped the plate he was holding in front of Kelsie.
"It so happens I need help finishing mine too. Unlike you, I'm not really gifted with the ability to eat much."
Bryan Baker was Kelsie's fiancé. The Baker family was a top family in New Metropolis and the Sutton family were way beneath them.
He was already so offended that he was being forced to marry into a lesser family, but finding out that he would be marrying someone overweight was something he never fathomed would happen to him.
And even though he had been told to be nice to Kelsie by his family, he always lost his temper whenever he saw her and would never let an opportunity to spit on her pass him by.
When Kelsie didn't raise her head to look at him, he slammed his palm down on the table angrily, startling everyone besides Kelsie.
"Don't look down when I'm talking to you! Do you know how much the Baker family had to contribute to throw such an elaborate engagement ceremony for you?"
Seeing that he wasn't the least offended by what they were doing and was even helping, Laura mocked Kelsie in her heart.
She inched closer to him and gently grabbed him by the arm.
"When I saw the chefs making so much food, I was scared our guests wouldn't be enough to finish the food prepared today."
"I totally forgot we had someone who could eat for everyone in our midst. Now hurry up and gulp this down, we can't afford to let even a spoonful waste!"
"She has been served on a platter of gold all her life that she doesn't know she isn't supposed to waste food for any reason whatsoever." One of the guests ckmmented, his disdain towards her laced in his tone of voice.
When she realized Kelsie wouldn't respond as usual, Laura's face heated up in anger and she pointed at two of her friends.
"You see, Kelsie's pride is just as big as her and we're wasting our time talking to her. Instead of doing that, you and you, grab her. I'll feed her Bryan's food myself! We can't let it waste!"
The people she pointed at quickly held Kelsie.
Feeling people's hands on her, Kelsie's eyes snapped open to reveal the now bloodshot ones.
She had been forcefully yanked out of her sleep, so it took her a moment to realize what was going on.
When she did, she began struggling with the people holding her in confusion. "Stop. What are you doing?"
Laura picked up the food and scooped up a spoonful, then she moved her hand towards Kelsie with a sinister smile.
"Stay still, will you? It would be a shame for this to go through the wrong hole."
As the spoon got closer to her face, Kelsie moved her head to the side numerous times, shouting, "Stop. Take that away from me. I said, stop!"
Laura sighed in frustration and tried to stub the content into Kelsie's mouth. Kelsie smelt the food and gagged.
For some reason, the smell of the food made the insides of her stomach churn in disgust and before she knew what was happening, she opened her mouth and threw up everything she had eaten that evening on Laura.
