Waking up to a throbbing pain in my head, I couldn't help but curse out loud. "I swear I would make the both of you regret this." My head hurts so bad it seems like it was going to split apart. Why wouldn't it? Falling from a cliff isn't an easy thing; it's a miracle I survived it.
I try to sit up with the throbbing pain still threatening to turn my head to paste. My whole body feels sore, and I can feel a sharp pricking pain under my ribs, just where my heart is located. I sighed in anger.
Who would have thought my own younger brother would work with a lady to make an attempt on my life? An attempt that almost succeeded. Only the heavens know how I survived. Well, now that I live, I sure would make them regret that choice of theirs. I just need to understand my situation and how I survived first. After that, I will get back at them. Grandpa won't let this slide; that's one thing I'm sure of. "Hmm, grandpa would be worried sick now, and that useless brother of mine would be playing innocent," I sighed once again.
Born into a successful family as the third-generation rich spoiled brat genius, having a professor degree at the age of seventeen in science and technology. A doctorate degree in strategic and management skills, I was picked to be my grandpa's successor of William Empire. I got so pampered by my grandpa that I lacked nothing - cars, money, houses, girls. Yeah, girls. I don't let any beautiful thing pass my eyes without wanting it, and once I want it, I get it. Not just because I'm a Williams, but also because I'm handsome looking.
Who knew what piqued my interest more would be what my own younger brother would use against me. He got a lady to work her way into my heart, after which they tricked me into going on a private personal picnic trip with her on a cliff. No one should know where we were going for fun.
Foolish me, I agreed, and on getting there, I got the shock of my life. I was poisoned by her, and my brother showed up, talking crap to me. After which, he pushed me down the cliff to die while he was busy kissing this lady that had refused me, standing too close to her.
Falling from that cliff, my anger and hate for the both of them soared to the cloud. But what could I do? Right when I was about to hit the ground and die in regret, "Hmm, that reminds me, I swear I saw something like a multiple color rainbow orb shooting into my body before my vision blanked," I suddenly recall, touching my body to see if anything is out of place.
The splitting pain in my head multiplies. If it was like the gushing of a shallow stream before, now it's a raging sea. And with it came foreign knowledge - strange yet a bit familiar to me. It was like my own memories but at the same time not.
Calming my mind when the pain subsides, I try to sort the information out. "Damn it, you got to be kidding me. Did I f*cking die? I really died. Damn, how am I supposed to pay those bastards back?" I grumble annoyingly.
Calming my mind after screaming to myself for who knows how long, I decide to continue checking out the situation once calmed down.
My face kept changing expression. I've been reincarnated into the body of a young man, same age and name as mine, only surname differences. I am William, he is Newman. The world I'm reincarnated into is known as The Eternal Globe, a world a lot different from Earth. It's like a medieval world with power-gaining martial spirits and can cultivate a foreign energy known as eternal qi.
From all the information I got, I am the grandson of Steven Newman, a family with hardness martial spirit. Poor Imos Newman, he didn't inherit his family martial spirit just like his father, Dorian Newman, who runs the family business outside town.
Imos' father, Dorian Newman, isn't from the Newman family. Nobody knew where he came from. Grandpa Davis found him when he was out hunting and brought him back. From the story the father of the original owner told him, it was stated that Davis Newman stumbled upon a dying lady who had just given birth but wouldn't be able to make it. Seeing a stranger arrive at her place of birth with how much struggle she had gone through killing all the high-rank beasts lurking around the forest. She made him vow a heaven and earth oath to take care of her son as his own, after which she gave him all the wealth she had in store in her spatial storage. She willed her martial spirit to him, along with Dorian Newman. That was the name she gave him. Before Davis Newman could ask further questions, the woman had given up the ghost. Left with no choice, he buried the woman in the forest returning with a new baby boy gifted with a great amount of wealth and a martial spirit which he didn't have, making him a regular warrior before now.
Davis Newman rose through the ranks to become a powerhouse amongst the powerhouses in this area. When his father was tested for martial spirit at the age of five, they found out he got none, which did bother Davis. Seeing his mother had such a powerful martial spirit, the father wouldn't be any way weak either. If he couldn't get the mother's martial spirit, he could get his father's but none. He was one of those unlucky ones not to gain a martial spirit.
In the world of The Eternal Globe, martial spirit is seen as a blessing. Not everyone can have it. Those that have it are highly esteemed amongst others. Many can inherit their parents' martial spirit or even better a variation, but it's not always constant. Some might be born with a martial spirit, others won't be. They can still be warriors (cultivation experts) but won't be as strong as one with a martial spirit. For example, if two elementary stage cultivators were to go against each other - one with a martial spirit of flame and the other a cultivator of flame eternal qi, the flame eternal qi cultivator would lose to the cultivator with a martial spirit even if the said person cultivates another elemental eternal qi.
It is advisable, though, to cultivate an elemental eternal qi complimentary to one's martial spirit or an elemental eternal qi that doesn't go against one's martial spirit to bring out much of the person's martial spirit potential.
Just like his father, Dorian, he too didn't get any martial spirit. This had left him as an invisible person of the Newman family – all his nephews and nieces got the Newman family martial spirit except him. Not interested in the family business like his father, he sought for things to make up for his weakness and boredom. He spent his time researching history to find a way to awaken or inherit a martial spirit.
It was with this thought that Alex Wilson, grandson of the House of Wilson – a family with a poison martial spirit – brought a map of ancient ruins to explore. He promised to share the gain equally, and if they chanced upon an inherited martial spirit, he would be the one to get it.
He was the best in all of that stuff in the whole of the wasteland, having studied many languages, including ancient ones, and he knew a lot about these issues.
Never in his wildest dream did he think he would be backstabbed and killed once they finished exploring the cave.
Alex Wilson had taken everything; he and his warriors killed the guard he brought along and killed him too in the end, scorning at him for being a fool to trust him. How could he share anything with the Newman family, a family that had just recently risen to power? He couldn't let them grow stronger, since no one knew they came here due to an oath of secrecy. The whole thing was easy – nobody would ask questions. "Bastard, he even collapsed the entrance of the cave," I cursed, seeing the entrance had been collapsed.
Too bad I would be dying a second time after my transmigration. If I don't die of this splitting headache, I would surely die from running out of oxygen. There is no way I can blast my way out of this cave since I didn't practice martial arts. Believing I would get a martial spirit from all this long ancient inheritance diving I am doing. I wouldn't want to cultivate techniques that would become a problem in the future. Saving those thoughts for now, I try to rest my back against the wall behind me and wait for the inevitable.
At that moment, right at that moment, a triple, if not a quadruple, of the pain I have ever felt since I woke hit me. It caused my whole body to writhe on the floor, holding my head to prevent it from exploding. My body felt like it was being ripped apart from the inside out.
When it finally settled down, with me coughing out a mouthful of blood, I felt a vibration deep within my mind, like in the depth of my soul. Sitting upright in a cross-legged fashion, I tried to inspect my mind. It's impossible to do such a thing back on Earth, as all this was just fantasy and novel fun back then, but not anymore. I'm not on Earth, and I'm certain this is the famous transmigration, so I have to accept my new reality as my true reality. The moment my consciousness fell deep inside me, going through the pathway to my soul – or something, as I'm sure I'm spouting nonsense at the moment – I was left stupefied.
What I saw defied the very definition of science I knew. First transmigration already defiled that law for me, but this... this sight was way too much for me.
