This story is amazing, its gritty, its realistic, and it takes the idea of a systemic world and chucks it out the window. Similar to omniscient reader or way of choices, but with a sense of freedom and no system. Very similar to one man army / emperor of solo play with one character against the world, wait universe sounds better. final space reference)
Do you enjoy no tknowing what is going on? How about an author who intentionally leaves out information that his characters know just to make his world more 'mysterious'? Faux artistic/philosophical talk that pretends to be deep but actually means nothing? Well if you do, I have a novel for you! For everyone else, avoid this novel like the plague. The concept is interesting but the execution is so bad I became actively angry after having gotten 30+ chapters in.
Ouroboros. Im disappointed. Im also not disappointed. Im interested. Im also not interested. Im curious. Im also not curious. Im impressed. Im also not impressed. Thats all I can said about this novel. Noted. And no one can change my mind. And thats also a fact that one might not want to see. One might hate it. But people still want to trust it. They want to enjoy it. So, ill just be my self. After all, their ending was their own ending no one can force them to get others ending. Ill also be myself. After all, I believe this is not the end for them. ..... This is only the beginning. What a contradiction feelings I have.
This is a pretty unique novel, in that it takes the cliched premise of a Gameworld with a [System] and completely subverts that by questioning as to why that world exists. Normally you see novels where the world becomes a System and probably have people fighting dungeons and monsters, but this builds upon that by completely abandoning the tactical view of daily fighting in favor of a more strategic view of what the consequences are for such a change. The worldbuilding is effected nicely and there is character development, although it's often conveyed from the perspective of the side characters. Overall a pretty good novel and it's a crying shame this website is so biased against promoting Korean novels on the front page
Five star experience with a half-rate novel. I'll say it now, this isn't that good a novel. The plot's messy, the events are unimpressive, the writing can be eye-roll dramatic, and a lot of characters are like bland water. Overall, it's written reminiscent of a child stringing together a confusing conglomeration of a beaded bracelet. It can be disorienting, confusing, and disappointing, is what I'm saying. At this point, people may wonder why I gave this novel five stars despite denouncing it thus far. Honestly, I don't recommend this because it's not for everyone; especially so among other novels on this site. I'm just writing down my own thoughts. I remember being curious of the summary when I first started reading it. I read the prologue and thought, what a peculiar novel. I then found myself invested in the story in a way one smells a good meal and decides to have dinner. There were elements of a brotherhood, a power fantasy, the growth of characters, and a broader world. There's also a clear goal for the main character and a higher agenda to be had by the residents of the world. Then why does it not feel like the story is interwoven with these elements? Because it's not about them. Despite all the elements of a good story and all the elements of a bad one, my attention was never engrossed in them because of what the author chose to focus the story on, and it was this part that made me stay. It's about the main character. Why am I pointing out something so obvious? Well, a person can only read the novel to understand what I mean, but reading the prologue is enough to get a glimpse. At some point, I put my stake in the main character. My experience was mainly because of the main character and all things related to him. If I were to summarize it... I was happy for him, I was worried for him, I jokingly scolded him, and I frustratedly screamed at him. I was, in short, invested in him; like an ouroboros cycle. Ha. The curious who are still here and have gotten interested in this novel, here's a reminder: this novel isn't that good. If you do not find yourself staking investment in the main character, this novel may not be for you. It can be fairly disorienting to read without the stability of cheering on the main character after all. But if you do get invested, I recommend bracing yourself for the ending. I do not recommend at all reading the epilogue arc either. Both are for different reasons though. For the ending arc, which in my heart is the real ending, I can only say it bluntly: I did not get closure. Most likely, almost anyone who reads the ending will not get closure. It's akin to seeing the ending of a hall before a door slams closed in your face. Veterans of KR novels may say "I should have seen it coming." It’s angering, but I'm still unwilling to admit that I'm unhappy with this ending even though I am; mostly because I, who put stake in the main character, wish to believe he got closure and choose to believe that the untied ends means he is still holding on to an end to his goal. What I'm saying is, "I'm disappointed but happy." As for the epilogue arc, I mostly felt disbelief at what I felt was a baffling nonsense epilogue arc. It's not as bad as I make it out to be and I cannot stop people from reading it, but it's truly not an ending that fits. So, those are my thoughts. I had never thought deeply about how people could dislike well-written stories and like clumsily-written stories; though I intuitively knew why, I never understood. I think I get it now. I heard from somewhere that this was the author's first novel? I'm thankful such a novel made me happy, sad, pleased, and angry simultaneously. It was like an unending loop. I believe another reviewer called this "ouroboros" as a nod to the novel? I have to agree with them, I truly loved this "conflicting" and "unending" experience. It's been a year since I finished the novel and The World After the Fall is still a novel novel. See "you" later.
Trash novel, author wanted to make it too mysterious but in the late chapters it starts very irritating, mc is very stupid, selfish, there many cliche parts, author wanted make mc ruthless cool type, but he's reckless stupid, that not thinks from the start and his friends dyes 'cause it, to make it cool, fearless type, I read it to the end, to understand mysterious parts, but author not writes what it is, but adds more and more, its very irritating f*ck, I don't recommend this book fellow readers
This is a very good story. It is a mix of eastern and western writing. The MC is very complicated in his actions and emotions. I believe the whole story is more about his journey than the end goal. However, the ending of this novel is a big disappointment. Makes me sad that everything he went through was pointless as the cycle restarts. I'd still recommend others to read this, but beware the bitter ending.
Ok I enjoy this but the only thing I DON'T like is that the author or someone decided to start the payment (by coins or passes) at chapter 23 like come on!! You could have started at chapter 40 something or below and let the people enjoy it and see if they like it or not!! If they do then yay you get passes and coin or whatever! But like really?!?! *sigh* that's all I wanted to say and the part that this is a good novel but it's just disappointing that I won't be able to enjoy it anymore or that much 😔😞😔😢. Well... either way thank you if you have read up to here! 😆😊 I love the novel so far but it will be a lot for me since I also have other novels to read that also need payment. It would be better if I could by the book irl directly than use money or passes for something that I don't know if I will still enjoy in the long run (I hope I still do cause it's REALLY good!!!!!!😍🤩)
Interesting story about how people's ideologies and experiences are like having their own worlds that compete with each other. This is not your typical action story and the fights are not really about the fights. Could have been written better in some parts, some people found the ending unsatisfying but I thought it was perfectly appropriate given the ideas that the story brought forward but they are hard ideas for many to grapple with and find a satisfaction in.
I both love this novel and hate this novel. Is that ourobouros? Its intersting in its world building in that it goes against alot of tropes for a novel of this kind while still keeping it the same. Coming from reading Omniscient Readers Viewpoint you can actually see some of the elements that inspired that so i guess this was like a proof of concept while that was the finished version. Either way, you wont regret reading it. It's worth it if you want something new.
