chapter 10

Draco didn't really know what was going on. This morning, at breakfast, his father had gotten a letter from Gringotts, telling him to take his wife and son to the bank right away. His father had grumbled about it but had none the less told them that they were going to go.

Now they were being led by one of the goblins through the identical corridors of Gringotts bank, going to the Malfoy account manager's office.

Finally in the office, the family of three sat down opposite the goblin, "What is the reason for your letter?" Father demanded from the goblin.

"Lord Malfoy, it has come to our attention that some of our customers have had blocks, potions, spells, and compulsions placed on them. At the request of the ones who brought this to our attention we have called you here," the goblin answered.

"And who, exactly, are these people? And why, exactly, would we be called in?" Father almost sneered at the account manager.

"That, Lord Malfoy, is not something I can tell you at the moment. If you, and your wife and child, take the inheritance test, now please-," the goblin answered, placing three sheets of parchment in front of them, and laying a red-feathered quill on top. "-write your full names on these parchments with this quill."

Father was seething, but did as the goblin asked, writing Lucius Abraxas Malfoy on the first sheet, before handing the quill to Draco's mother. Narcissa Violetta Malfoy was written before Draco wrote Draco Lucius Malfoy on the last sheet.

The parchment was handed to the goblin as they went, and Draco didn't see what had appeared on them, but the goblin only looked over them briefly before shouting something in the goblin language.

He looked at them, "It seems we were correct. Lord Malfoy and Lady Malfoy both have potions, spells, and compulsions on you, in addition to being obliviated. Heir Malfoy also have potions, spells, and compulsions on him, together with some blocks," the goblin continued, "I have just called for someone to come and guide you to the ritual chambers, where you will be cleansed from this filth," he finished just as three goblins came into the office.

Draco was the first to wake up, they were all lying on beds in a hospital-like room. The walls were of stone and the room smelled like herbs and potions. The goblin that was their account manager was sitting at a table with another goblin.

"I see you are awake, Heir Malfoy, I hope you are feeling okay." He said, when Draco nodded, he handed Draco a sheet of parchment, "This is your inheritance test, I would recommend going through it."

Draco was very confused seeing how he apparently had eight godparents, never mind who they were. There was too much to unpack in there, Draco didn't know what to think. He skipped down to where he saw potions, spells, and compulsions stood.

Draco was shocked, Albus Dumbledore, the Lord of the Light, had put so many compulsions on him. Not only that, but the compulsions were to make him hate the light and join the Death Eaters.

It was at that moment Draco's father began to stir, efficiently pausing all of Draco's thoughts. Father sat up and looked around himself before his eyes landed on Draco, "You look distressed, is something wrong?" he asked in concern, making Draco even more confused. His father never sounded concerned.

"Lord Malfoy, I see you are awake, I hope you are feeling okay," the goblin said, imitating the greeting he gave Draco, "Here is your inheritance test," he said as he handed another sheet of parchment to Father.

"Thank you, Nagnok," he accepted the parchment and began to read. Father looked more and more furious the longer he read. After finishing he glowered into thin air, "That man made me into a terrible man!" he madly said into the room, he then turned his eyes to Draco, looking so sad, and said "I am so sorry."

Draco was beginning to accept that he would never be this confused for the rest of his life, but this was a new high. His father apologized for something, earnestly.

It was at this moment that Mother decided to wake up, yet again efficiently stopping Draco in his thoughts.

"Narcissa, how are you feeling, my love?" Lucius was at her bedside so fast Draco would have guessed he apparated had it not been for their location. Did Father call Mother 'my love'? He has never called her that before… Draco was many layers confused at this point.

Mother was sitting up with Father's help while answering "Yes, dear. I feel fine," she smiled at Father.

"Lady Malfoy, -" Nagnok greeted her, "- here is your inheritance test," he said, holding out the last parchment towards her. Father took the parchment and gave it to her.

She, too, became furious while reading and after finishing she looked up at Father. "What do we do?" she asked, as if already knowing that Father would know what she was asking regarded.

"I think I would be of help here," Nagnok said, "The ones who asked us to call you here are actually waiting for you in one of our meeting rooms," he smirked, "If you would follow me."

Father helped Mother get up, "Let us go, then," she said, smiling again, "Come on, Draco," Draco slid out of bed and followed after his parents, out the door, and behind the goblin leading them through the corridors.

At last, Severus had finally been able to get a break from Hogwarts. Finally, Dumbledore had allowed him a few days to travel and gather potion ingredients. One day away from the castle, that's all he got before something else stopped him from that, in the form of a letter from Gringotts.

So, here he was, asking one of the tellers about the letter, right away being assigned a goblin to follow through a maze of corridors. They finally reached their destination, and with a sharp knock on the door it was flung open, and Severus was all but shoved inside. The door slammed shut behind him and Severus was standing in an office.

"Good day, Lord Prince," the goblin behind the desk said, "I am glad to see you, after thirteen years."

Now, Severus was very confused, but because of his acceptable occlumency it didn't show. "I think, you have mistaken me for someone else, I am Severus Snape, not any Lord Prince," he said quietly.

The goblin managed to look concerned and amused at the same time as he answered, "No, I did not make a mistake. You are Lord Prince. You may have been made to forget, but I still remember," the goblin said, "Now, on to business. If you could write your name here, with this quill, -" laying a sheet of parchment out and holding a red quill out to Severus he continued, "- it will tell us all we have to know," Still suspicious, but non the less intrigued, Severus sat down and took the quill, "Oh, and also. The name you have to write is Severus Black-Prince-Lupin."

Severus just stared at the goblin for a few seconds, "Pardon? Black-Prince-Lupin?" the goblin just nodded, and Severus questioned if this was some elaborated prank. Taking a deep breath, and breathing out slowly, he wrote the name.

When he was finished the goblin took the quill and parchment, looking it over before looking at Severus. "You will be needing a cleansing ritual. You have blocks, spells, and compulsions on you. you have also been obliviated," he informed Severus, "Follow me to the ritual chambers."

Severus woke up in a Gringotts hospital room, his account manager sitting at a table on the other side of the room. "Awake, Lord Prince?" he asked, looking at Severus.

"Obviously, Odbert" Severus said, almost rolling his eyes at the goblin.

"Well then, Lord Prince. Here is your inheritance test," Odbert said as he handed the parchment over to Severus.

Severus didn't take long to read it but had to resolve himself to read the whole thing before blowing up. "Where are my husbands!?" was the first thing he said after finishing reading.

Odbert smirked, "Follow me then," he said as he stood. Severus was quick to get out of the hospital bed and out the door after the goblin.
