Second Semester Work-Studies: Round One!

Winter Break ended and it was the start of the New Year! Mr. Aizawa stood in front of us as we had all of our nominations from the Sports Festival. I had only about 5, but I could understand why. At least I didn't have 0 nominations! Right? My sister, The Big Three Agency, Mirko, Ryukyu, and Selkie were the only ones that gave me nominations. I looked around at everyone else's, I noticed that some of us didn't have a single one at all, so I should be grateful for the ones that I have now. Still, it kind of stung, I know for a fact that I could've gone far in that tournament. The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I got at myself. I tightened my grip on my pencil and closed my eyes.

"Alyx, sweetheart, are you alright?" Momo whispered.

I opened my eyes; I didn't even realize that I was almost activating my Rage Quirk. The red and black smoke settled instead of surrounding me as I felt Momo's hand. I looked to my left and smiled at her.

"Yeah, I'm alright!" I reassured her.

I looked down at my nominations, who would I choose? We'd be starting them tomorrow, so I had to choose rather quickly, but I had some rather interesting options. I stacked my papers up, why was having so few nominations this hard to choose from?

"Hey, Alyx, where do you plan on interning?" Tsuyu asked.

I looked up and saw that she was turned around facing me.

"That's the thing, I'm not really sure!" I chuckled.

She looked down at my papers, "Hmm... Well, we both have Selkie, I think he'd like you. I could do my Work-Studies with you, since he knows me, I'm sure he'll take you in. We can go after school today to see if he'll let you work with him."

"Selkie, huh...?" I muttered.

I guess I know who I'm doing my Work-Studies with!

[Several Hours Later...]

I'm on a goddamn boat in the middle of the fucking ocean. This was going to be my first-time meeting Selkie and the Oki Mariner Crew, I honestly should've expected this from the crew's name.

"Ah! Froppy! Long time no see, who's this you've got with you?" He greeted.

He's a seal?! I guess that's the only thing I didn't expect about this! He looks kinda cool though.

"This is Leonidus, Captain Selkie. I figured he'd like to do his Work-Studies with me being that we both got nominations from you." She told him.

"Leonidus... I've heard a lot about you! I'd imagine you think you have what it takes to work with me. However, I'm not going to hand it out to you, you're going to work for it. Understand?" Selkie grinned.

"Yes sir, I do." I replied.

"Wonderful! I'm assuming your Work-Studies start tomorrow, yes?" He asked.

Both of us nodded at him, "Alright, I expect both of you to be here bright and early! We've got a long month ahead of us and we've got plenty to learn!"

[The Next Morning...]

Honestly, It's at times like this that I'm not some bratty rich kid, because this entire Work-Study would be hell for me if it was! Selkie had me clean the deck of the boat. I wonder what Tsuyu's doing? Then again, I wonder what I'll be doing this entire Work-Study!

"Hey! Make sure you get that spot over there too!" Selkie yelled down to me.

"Yes sir!" I shouted back to him.

At least this was somewhat relaxing, not having to deal with a villain right off the bat was definitely a change of scenery for me. Luckily it was early in the morning, so maybe he had more planned for me, I hope. I finished up cleaning the deck and reported back to Selkie.

"Huh, that took you quite a while. Doesn't that Quirk of yours make you go fast?" He wondered.

"Yes, but I didn't want to take the easy route, I'm pretty sure I would've missed some spots if I didn't take my time." I responded.

He gave me a grin, "Well I'll be damned, I honestly expected you to use your Quirk. Clearly, you've proven to me that you're worthy of being a part of my crew. That doesn't mean you can slack off either, you need to do your part around the boat like everyone else, got it?"

"Yes sir, Captain Selkie!" I saluted.

He dismissed me back to the deck, I leaned against the boat's side and stared out towards the horizon.

"Hey, care for a drink?" A woman asked.

"Sure, thank you!" I agreed.

She was a sky-blue haired woman with dark blue eyes. I took the drink from her as she leaned against the side of the boat with me.

"You're that Leonidus kid I've heard so much about. The name's Sirius, it's a pleasure to meet you." She smiled.

"It's nice to meet you as well, Sirius!" I smiled back.

"So, you really must've impressed Captain Selkie if he let you on the crew this quickly. Normally, it'd be a few days until he lets someone new be a part of the Oki Mariners. And..." Sirius continued.

She stopped and looked behind her, "Alright, we'll be right up!"

"Huh? What?" I wondered.

"Captain Selkie got a report of a Piracy in progress at a nearby cargo vessel. He wants us in the Captain's Quarters immediately!" She informed me.

I nodded and followed her back up to Selkie's Quarters. Tsuyu and other crew members were already up there. He explained the situation to us, there was a nearby cargo ship being tailed by bandits. We were nearing their location, we were to be as quiet as possible, just in case there were bandits patrolling the area.

[10 Minutes Later...]

We approached the now stopped cargo ship. This thing was huge! There had to have been tons upon tons of cargo held on this boat! There was a medium sized boat anchored next to it, presumably the one the bandits were using. We cut the engine as we coasted towards the back of the boat.

"Alright, Froppy, Leonidus, you two head up and scout ahead. Sirius and I will be following right behind you." Selkie instructed.

We nodded at him, I patted my back and knelt down. I looked over and saw that Tsuyu was rather confused.

"Come on, we don't have time to waste!" I told her.

With a "ribbit", she hopped onto my back, we flew up to the ship and landed softly. We hid behind a shipping container, I peered out from the side of it to see if anyone was nearby. I motioned her to follow me and we crept out from behind the crate. I heard voices in the distance, it sounded like... English? I wasn't entirely sure if it was from the bandits or whoever ran this vessel. I finally got my answer as we made it towards the middle of the boat. It was the people who ran this vessel that were speaking English! Glad I came along; it'd be kind of hard for everyone else to understand what they were saying.

I stepped out and stomped my foot, "Hey, assholes! I get that you're eager and all for whatever these crates have, but could you at least wait until it gets into market?"

They pointed their guns at me, more Quirkless people, interesting... I put up a shield as they fired their weapons. I stood there and waited as they kept firing at me. I looked down at my wrist, pretending that I was looking at a watch. They finally ran out of bullets and I dropped my shield.

"Are you guys dumb or something? You do know what a force shield is, right?" I asked.

Tsuyu and I stepped forward towards them. One man pulled out a knife and rushed me. I dodged his swipes with ease, I twisted his arm which made him drop the knife and drop down to the ground. I placed my foot in between his shoulder blades. Tsuyu approached the hostages but the other men started making their way towards her. My fingertips started glowing as I pointed it at them, I moved my thumb down to the man who's arm I had a hold of.

"You guys touch her, I'm sending a beam straight through your friend's head, got it?" I threatened.

"H-Hey! You... Don't you guys dare fuckin' move!" The man shouted.

I saw Selkie appear behind the men and knock them all out with one swoop! He really must be strong if he was able to do that. I put my hand down and leaned towards the man I had caught. Selkie approached him and crossed his arms.

"Alright, who's your boss? I won't hesitate to send you swimming all the way back to the mainland if you don't tell me." Selkie warned.

"H-Heh... As... As if I'd tell you, seal boy!" He retorted.

I leaned forward and slammed him down onto the boat floor. I went into my Demon Form, I put my knee on his back and bent his arm further.

"You've got a nice arm; I wouldn't mind eating something like this... Perfect muscle ratio, I'd imagine the amount of blood in those veins, it's all so tantalizing! Obviously, you aren't going to be of use to them, but oh man... Will you be of use to me!" I cackled.

I felt his heartbeat quicken, he started breathing rapidly and looked back at me. I flared my teeth out at him and licked my lips. He closed his eyes as I got right up close to his neck.

"OKAY! OKAY! H-Her name is 'Mistress Monsoon', that's all I know, honest!" He cried out.

I reverted out of my Demon Form and let go of his arm. Selkie took care of the bandit as I made my way over to the hostages.

"Hey, it's okay! We're here to help!" I reassured them in English.

"T-Thank you! I didn't think that you spoke English." The man replied.

Tsuyu and I untied the crew of this ship, I heard the boat creak, were we... Moving? We all rushed up to the wheelhouse, the captain rushed inside of it. He came out with a frightened look on his face.

(I.R.P.: Listen to "You Say Run" from My Hero Academia)

"T-The ship... We can't stop it! The shifter's been broken completely! It's at full speed! If this thing crashes, that's 250,000 tons smashing into whatever is in front of us!" He panicked.

"The shifter's broken?!" I exclaimed.

"W-What do we do now?" Sirius asked.

I looked over to my left and zoned out completely, my eyes widened as I saw that we were making our way towards a coast side town. I activated Infinite Mode subconsciously, I took off towards the front of the ship, I placed my hands directly on it.

"Leonidus! We have to call for an evacuation of that city! None of us can stop this boat!" Selkie shouted down at me.

I didn't listen to him, I put everything I had into keeping this boat pushed back, I slid against the water trying to hold it.

"B-BOOST FIRE... TIMES 100!!" I roared.

My Boost Fire aura ignited fiercely around me, I started pushing on the boat by flying straight into it. I saw the Oki Mariner Crew zoom towards the side of the boat, Selkie and the others started carrying the members of this vessel off of it. We were rapidly approaching the town, I looked back and blinked three times.

"H-Hatsume, how long until I reach this town?" I wondered.

"About... 45 seconds! You need to get out of there! There's nothing you can do!" Hatsume told me.

*THIRD PERSON*

Alyx yelled out of frustration and his Rage Quirk surrounded him! 6 Rage arms appeared and applied pressure against the cargo ship. Selkie watched on as he saw the boat start to slightly slow down.

"Come on, Leonidus..." He thought to himself.

The Oki Mariner Crew followed closely, expecting for the ship to ram right into the town. Leonidus closed his eyes and grit his teeth. Sirius radioed for back up to head straight towards the coast side town.

"COME ON GODDAMN IT!!" Alyx shouted.

The cargo ship was almost towards the town! The civilians stood still as they watched their potential doom come towards them!

"I-I have to stop this boat... Even if it kills me... If I don't, hundreds of lives are at stake! I need to break my limits, just this once, I can't do it as is. That's why... I need to increase the multiplier! If I don't push through... If I can't break my own boundaries, then I can't call myself a hero! Boost Fire, don't fail me now!" Alyx thought to himself.

The rose-gold aura around Alyx began to intensify even more! Red sparks of energy quickly surrounded his body, he shot open his eyes and tensed himself.

"BOOST FIRE: TIMES 200!!!" He thundered.

The boat started to get pushed backwards, "DRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

The water beneath Leonidus raged and swirled as he pushed the cargo ship back! Alyx's force completely destroyed the propellers guiding the ship! Selkie and the rest of the crew looked on with wide, astonished eyes. As the boat came to a stop, heavy amounts of steam rose off of Leonidus. He looked over at the others, smiled, and gave a thumbs up. His hair fell down to it's normal state as he exhausted himself completely. Leonidus fell out of the sky and into the ocean, Selkie dove into the water to rescue him. Within seconds, Selkie burst out of the water with Leonidus in his arms. He rushed back to the boat, he jumped up into the sky and landed on the deck.

"You did amazing, Leonidus! I've never seen anything like it!" Selkie complimented.

[One Hour Later...]

*LEONIDUS' P.O.V.*

I woke up staring at the ceiling of the Captain's Quarters. Sirius was holding a cold towel on my forehead, she gave me a smile when I looked at her. I slightly smiled back at her.

"Leonidus, I never thought I'd see anything like that! That was incredible!" Sirius beamed.

"H-Honestly... I didn't think that I could do it there for a minute!" I chuckled.

Selkie walked in with Tsuyu, "That was fine work out there, Leonidus, you both are dismissed for the day. We'll be scouting around for this 'Mistress Monsoon' in the meantime."

I nodded at him, I got up and we left the boat, at least we didn't have to worry about cleaning up a demolished city today. As we were walking out of the marina, Tsuyu poked at my right arm.

"I'm still surprised that you didn't keep Hatsume's arm. Also, what made you get rid of your burn scar?" Tsuyu questioned.

"Well, when I visited my Mother on Christmas, she told me that the road I was taking to becoming a Pro Hero was only getting me hurt. I guess I figured she meant my injuries, so I decided to get rid of them. It was kind of a Christmas present?" I explained.

She nodded at me, "Ah, okay. Hmm... Didn't you also give Yaoyorozu an engagement ring?"

"H-How'd you know about that?!" I exclaimed.

"She told all of the girls about it last night when we spent the night in Mina's room." She told me.

"Oh... Yeah, I did." I lamented.

I put my hands in my pockets and looked forward. I still had the ring that my Mother gave me, I felt like giving it back to her, I just didn't feel right having it now that Dad was back. Tsuyu pulled on the sleeve of my hero costume, I looked over at her.

"Don't tell me you're feeling down about it, if anything, you should be happy. At least Yaoyorozu knows that you'll be getting an actual ring that'll look prettier than the one she has now." Tsuyu reassured.

"Hmm... You're right! I could find one that's way better than the one I gave her!" I grinned.

I gave Tsuyu a big hug, "C-Can you put me down, please."

"Oh, sorry!" I chuckled.

I really need to work on not doubting myself, aaaand maybe seeing things differently. This Work-Study with Selkie and the Oki Mariner Crew is really fun so far! I was a bit skeptical at first but I'm really enjoying it!
