Lifeless town

Elias walked out of the electric metro train, what he saw was something not pleasing. In front of him was a lifeless land. There were broken buildings. Not a single grass was there, what was left was the ruins of the broken buildings and houses that may have existed here before things went downtown.

"This was supposed to be the Results town?" Elias asked turning to look at Sebastian and Aurora.

What was funny was the fact that Sebastian was hiding behind Aurora. But she doesn't seem to mind it though.

"You are such a baby!" Aurora said to him with her brows dipped.

Elias smiled at them, only Elias knows that Sebastian was a badass. If he were a pussy as he was showing to be, he would not have survived this merciless Dystopia. It was his playful nature that he was behaving like this.

"I am not a baby! But I don't have any experience of living in a place like this!" He said pointing in the direction ahead.

Both Elias and Aurora looked at where he was pointing. An Omni-saur—a black giant soul pet —was standing beside a Master from the training centre. Elias could not remember his name but he have saw him a few times at the centre. A few trainees were surrounding him.

"I can agree to that, we haven't seen something like that yet," Elias voiced his agreement.

It was true, Even though Dystopia was not perfect—who am I kidding? With the amount of chaos there, life is extremely bad because of deprivation, oppression or terror, and Elf's society is characterized by misery, such as disease, overcrowding, environmental destruction, or war—but the place in front of them was a plus level from even Dystopia.

Aurora bite her lips, "We had grown up in a place like this, Our training centre was close to the war-destructive area, We woke up to chaos many times," With that being said, She walked in the direction ahead.

Elias and Sebastian shared a look, Sebastian shrugged his shoulder before walking after her.

Elias just shook his head before following them.

As the trio reached the crowd gathered ahead, the loud voice of the Master boomed through the air, "Fifty-six elves out of two hundred could make it here. What a shame! Those trainees called themselves dauntless Dystopian."

One of the trainees, a blonde boy who looked barely eighteen years old, raised his hand and asked, "What will happen to those who can't make it here, Master Edmund?"

Elias gritted his jaw roughly, the blonde boy should not have asked this question.

Master Edmund released a sinister laugh, "I was deliberately waiting for someone to ask this question!" He told everyone, his eyes held mischief.

Then he turned to the Omni-saur, and he motioned with his hand for it to fly.

The Omni-saur fled to the top of a broken building just behind them, He swapped his wings and a screen rolled down.

"Your results will be announced in an hour or two, until then, Enjoy the show!" Master Edmund announced before he jumped on the back of the Omni-saur and fled away.

The screen lit up, and what was displayed across it was horrible.

The disqualified trainees were running to save their lives as many Xerox-Saurus tried to eat them alive, a large amount of land was already covered by the dead bodies.

When the trainees registered what they were seeing, everyone started to cry, a scream of a female elf pierced through the silent air. They were crying for their friends who have ripped off their lives in front of them.

Elias and Sebastian both saw it at the same time, a young boy was asking for help as he lay on the ground and bled to death.

It was Benjamin, a thirteen years old boy who lived in the same quarter as Elias and Sebastian. He always told them how much he loved them and how he wish they all were together in Utopia.

"Ben," Sebastian's eyes brimmed with tears as he called Benjamin by the nickname they gave him. Elias clenched his fist trying hard not to cry.

"Don't look at it, it will only hurt more," Aurora said suddenly in a robotic voice.

With wide eyes Sebastian looked at her in disbelief, Elias was also a bit shocked. "How can you be so emotionless?" Sebastian asked disgustingly.

Aurora's eyed the screen, "Dystopia might be a bad place for male elves trainees but it was evil for the female elves. In order to get food we had to prove to ourselves every day that we are deserving of getting it. You become numb if you face something like that every day," She explained in an emotionless voice. But Elias can feel the hidden emotions behind her bravado facade.

She walked closer to the screen, raising her right hand and whispering some sort of spell then in a swift motion, she aimed the spell at the screen.

The screen shattered into pieces, but the after-effect of what everyone had seen still lingered.

Elias understands Aurora, when you have seen the worse, what more can scare or upset you?

"I should have helped him escape from the training centre, if I had, he would have been alive," Sebastian blamed himself, his shoulder stiff.

Elias looked at him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Even if you had agreed to help him, he would not have escaped. Utopia was his dream, Benjamin would have rather died than live in Dystopia." Elias reasoned with him.

Sebastian inclined his head, his eyes focused on Aurora where she stood frozen still looking at the shattered screen.

"You should ask her forgiveness, She is not to blame our current situation, she also has suffered like us, maybe even worse," Elias told him.

Sebastian nodded before walking towards her. Leaving Elias alone with his thoughts.

This is the reason all of the juveniles want to become Elite, being an Elite means a free ticket to Utopia.

Utopia was the polar opposite of Dystopia. Whereas Dystopia was the birthplace of Chaos, Utopia was heaven.

Elias dreads the results, while he wants nothing more than to become an Elite or be chosen for Utopia, He knows the results mean more eliminations, which will cause more death.

A howling noise of a mechanical air-raid siren catches the attention of everyone.

Elias looked at the face of each trainee in front of him, their looks were aghast, he can read their minds. it was the same thing he was thinking about.

It was time for the results of the trials.
