Fire

"Incredible," Kevin smiled broadly, glancing at the blue screen. A Servant with two divine powers is something Kevin values the most, precisely because when using [Ability Sharing], he can use two god powers at the same time without having to wait for a 2-minute cooldown.

Kevin clicked on the abilities as two smaller screens popped up.

[Lion Pride - the user is able to create a loud roar that ruins the flow of mana in people's bodies, causing them to be overwhelmed by headaches and dizziness]

[Note: This god power cannot be used many times in a short period of time, or else the mana flow in the user's body will be ruined]

"That's a very good one," Kevin muttered before continuing to look at the screen.

[Flame Control - lets the user control the fire]

[Note: 1. The control and power of the fire is completely dependent on the user's strength and concentration]

[2. Mana consumption is rapid].

"What a good catch," Kevin said inwardly before closing all the screens. These two god powers will be a figurehead in Kevin's arsenal, as fire is one of the strongest mage powers in the world. Unlike others, fire can be generated from the air itself and doesn't need a source from the environment.

A great example of this is Laura's water type power. While she is powerful when there is a source of water nearby, she is extremely vulnerable in a situation like this where there is not even a hint of water.

Of course, in the latter stages of cultivation, it's possible to generate water from the air itself, but that's too far away for Kevin to worry about.

Also [Roar] is a great god power, especially somewhere on the battlefield with many enemies around.

"Kevin ... Did you just turn him into that dark creature too?" came a frightened voice from behind as Kevin turned around. Laura could be seen standing wide-eyed in front of the mighty lion, looking at him.

Originally Laura had thought that there was some regulation to making these creatures and that they needed to be weak, but now it doesn't seem this way.

And that is what sends constant shivers down her spine. If Kevin is able to turn anyone he wants into these creatures and be able to control them ... isn't that too powerful?

"I've already said I won't reveal anything about my power," Kevin turned around, once again sliding his hand onto Lion's fur, who growled sweetly in response.

'With such power, he's already stronger than me, I wouldn't even be able to defeat him in the ocean' Laura's worst thought came true as she twitched her lips, 'I can already be considered a prodigy... then what would Kevin be? And why wasn't he scouted by anyone? With such power, he should have been a celebrity by now... what a mysterious man'

Unknown to Laura, she grew more and more interested in Kevin's past, as did she turn warier. By the earlier actions and the way he mercilessly killed Markus, it could already be said that he wasn't the nicest person.

With such god power, Kevin can already be seen as a possible threat to all of humanity, while, on the other hand, he can also be seen as a possible future powerhouse.

Either way, Laura needs to stay close to Kevin and find out more.

"This fight may have startled other creatures on this island, and considering the lion's power, there may be even stronger ones," Kevin dismissed the lion as he turned around, "We should head back to base."

Laura had no problem with Kevin's suggestion, thinking it was reasonable.

A few minutes later.

Kevin and Laura were already standing next to the huge tree, looking at each other.

"Grrr..." came a loud growl from Laura's stomach as she turned around in embarrassment.

"Wolf, hunt something for us," Kevin commanded as a dark creature rose up from behind once again fascinating Laura.

Wolf nodded and immediately took off running, disappearing among the myriad of green leaves.

"I have to do something," Kevin said as he began walking towards the cliff, "I'll be back after thirty minutes."

Laura simply nodded as she hopped into the hole, not bothering to glance at the disappearing figure of Kevin. Although the island was dangerous, Kevin was more than enough to protect himself, so Laura had no reason to worry.

Besides, even if someone stronger showed up, Laura wouldn't be much of a help.

"I need to become stronger," Laura said inwardly as she ducked to the ground, beginning to do numerous amount of push-ups.

Kevin stood right next to the cliff, overlooking the surrounding area. Although the clouds covered almost the entire area below, the blueness of the sea could still be seen through the holes.

"Ability sharing," Kevin muttered as an immediate feeling of power overtook his body, followed by a strange heat.

It was a unique feeling, but also addictive. Kevin felt his entire insides heat up, but that radiation only gave him comfort.

"Now...Let the mana flow into your hand," Kevin said as he reached his hand forward and began to surge mana into his palm. As the mana spread into Kevin's hand, he felt a slight burning sensation.

Looking forward, Kevin noticed a flame brewing from his own finger, yet no pain came over.

Flowing more mana into his hand, the fire lengthened and grew firmer. Through immense concentration, Kevin managed to create a fireball that flew in the air with not too much stability.

"Let's test the power," Kevin aimed the fireball at the clouds below as he shot it out, creating an unpleasant sound. However, before the fireball could touch the cloud, it dissipated into nothingness.

"Controlling the elements is harder than I thought," Kevin continued to experiment with his newfound power, trying out different formations.

Controlling the fire itself wasn't hard, but creating something from the flames was complicated and required the utmost precision and mana control.

After some time, Kevin finally felt his servant coming back so he finished testing for the day. Looking at the horizon, the sun could already be seen disappearing in the distance, indicating the beginning of the afternoon.

Red sunlight fell on Kevin's face as he took one last glance at the proximity before heading back to base.

Wolf could already be seen standing right next to the tree with a medium-sized rabbit between his fangs, waiting for the Master.

Kevin ran his hand through the servant's dark fur, thanking for the job before dismissing him. The rabbit instantly fell from Wolf's mouth as Kevin caught the meal with one hand.

"Rabbit is not a bad catch," Kevin said, motioning toward the hole, and after removing the gray stone from the path, he stepped inside.

Laura could be seen sitting in a lotus position in the middle of the area. Her whole attire was soaked in visible sweat, yet she didn't even budge from the spot.

Suddenly, Laura moved as she glanced towards the exit with wary eyes. However, after seeing Kevin standing there, looking at her from afar with the rabbit in his hand, Laura unintentionally turned embarrassed.

Not wanting to stink, Laura pressed on her bracelet as white gear instantly settled around her drenched clothes.

'Has she been cultivating?' Kevin was interested, but after seeing her suddenly stand up, he understood his lack of manners. Cultivation was something private, and it was simply uncultured to disrupt someone's concentration when they were possibly on the verge of a breakthrough.

But Kevin still couldn't suppress his curiosity. After all, he still has no idea how to cultivate after the human realm, Kevin only had this scroll that he didn't dare to cultivate with yet.

Of course, Kevin could have searched for the information online but he thought that it was still better to get knowledge in real-life. Therefore, he immediately went to the frontlines, yet such an accident occurred.

'Maybe I should ask her?' Kevin considered, but after some thought, he discarded his ideas. Laura and Kevin weren't close enough to exchange such information, and Kevin was aware of that.

"Hulu, bring some wood over here," Kevin called to another servant as the latter nodded leaving through the hole in the tree.

Kevin moved towards the corner of the square as he disarmed his blade. While walking, Kevin performed two continuous swings, causing the rabbit's head and many other pieces to fall to the ground.

By the time he reached the corner of the area, only two fine pieces of rabbit meat were left in Kevin's hands. He tossed one of the parts to Laura, who caught it with one hand.

'Not bad quality meat,' Laura thought, examining the medium-sized piece. Although it didn't look like it, Laura was actually a foodie.

After a few minutes, Hulu already returned with many different types of logs in his hands, all of which he placed next to Kevin.

"Thank you" Kevin muttered before summoning Judo, who coughed some fire into the woodpile. The dark area immediately brightened as Kevin placed his piece of meat on the stick and stretched it forward.

"What are you waiting for?" Kevin asked loudly, seeing the unmoving figure of Laura.

"Nothing, nothing," Laura replied wryly as she moved closer to the fire, following Kevin's actions and also beginning to roast the fine piece of meat.

An awkward silence overwhelmed the area with constant sprinkles of fire shooting around. Both Kevin's and Laura's eyes were glued to the slowly burning pieces of wood, while neither dared to speak.

"Hmm...Kevin, right?" Laura suddenly said, "I just wanted to ask a question...what are you fighting for?"

Kevin's eyebrows furrowed in confusion after hearing such a question as he answered:

"Personal reasons"

"I meant to ask...Which side are you on?" asked Laura as she tilted her head forward, listening closely to Kevin's answer.

"I don't understand your question...of course I'm on the side of humanity"

"There are different types of humans in the world, some of them are evil, some of them are good" Laura didn't stop her questions, "So which side are you on?"

"Although I am selfish, I am not evil and won't attack my own species unless I feel threatened" Kevin replied, paying particular attention to the last part of the sentence.

'His answer seems sincere enough,' Laura thought before returning her gaze to the piece of cooking meat.

"Since you asked me such a question, I want to know something too," Kevin asked, "Although I understand that you are a big shot, the fact that you are wearing a mask still confuses me."

"Personal reasons," Laura replied immediately, indicating that she didn't want to talk about the matter.

'Suit yourself' Kevin said mentally before pulling back the meat in frustration and taking a large bite, lifting his mask slightly.

Laura followed Kevin's actions and hoisted her mask lightly as well, but Kevin didn't even bother to look in her direction. If she didn't want her face to be seen, then Kevin would respect her privacy.

"Alright, I'm going out," Kevin said after he finished his meal, "I'll monitor the perimeter while you figure out a way to reach the land of China."

Laura nodded in response as she also quickly finished her meal and stood up, walking to the corner of the room.

'Finally, time to grind,' Kevin grinned inwardly.
