Defeat

Mikasa kept on being on the offensive, "Do you hear me? Give him back!" She kept on slashing the female titan over and over again until the female titan fell to her knees.

"Her nape, I can end it right here" She propelled her body and aimed right for the nape of the female titan.

But before she could strike her blade, the female titan had already covered her nape in her hardening crystal.

Mikasa's blade broke as soon as they made an impact with it, "Shit, it didn't even make a dent" She frowned, resting her legs on the trees before changing her broken blades.

The female titan got to her feet again and started running, looking to leave the forest before she encountered any more scouts.

"Get back here" Mikasa yelled, getting ready to chase after her, but she got held back by Levi.

"We stay back for now," Levi said, letting go of Mikasa's hand before tailing the female titan.

"She bit him from the nape whole, there's a good chance he didn't make it" Levi uttered, looking at the death stare Mikasa was giving the female titan.

"He's alive," Mikasa uttered, "If she wanted him dead she would have killed him there and wouldn't need to place him in her mouth, she needs him and needs her hands to fight.".

"Someone is optimistic"

"If you had just done your job and protected him like you were supposed to, we wouldn't be having this conversation," Mikasa yelled.

"Ohhh, I see it now, you're the childhood friend, everything is starting to make sense" Levi uttered.

"We need to forget about killing her"

"No way, she has killed way too many for that" Mikasa uttered.

"She has defenses that we are not trained to handle yet, trust me, instead we'll move on to your assumption that he's alive, we'll take her down and get Ayato out of her mouth."

"Okay," Mikasa answered, holding her blades tight and getting ready to attack.

"Great"

While the female titan was running, she made a sharp stop, turned,aiming her punch at Levi.

Levi, being a great soldier, pulled out his blade and started slicing from her wrist to her shoulder in a circular manner using his ODM gear.

He hooked his ODM gear to her collarbone before propelling himself towards her and stabbing both her eyes with his blades.

"He's fast, she can't even defend herself" Mikasa uttered, looking at the way Levi was completely overpowering the female titan.

The female titan fell to the floor resting her back on a tree after her legs gave out from Levi's blade's slashes.

Levi changed his blade and began moving on the offensive again, he kept cutting her in different places till her hands left her neck.

"The nape," Mikasa thought to herself before launching toward the female titan.

Right before Mikasa strikes, the female titan protects her nape with the hardening, Mikasa's blade breaks again leaving her at a disadvantage.

The female titan was about to slam Mikasa with her hand but Levi steps in to save her, pushing her away from danger but at the risk of straining his foot.

He rotated his body around her hand, slicing her all the way down to the fingers. Once her hands were down, he sliced open her mouth and Ayato popped right out.

"Ayato!" Mikasa yelled.

Levi quickly grabbed Ayato and started moving away from the female titan and landed on a tree branch holding Ayato who was covered in sticky Silvia.

"Is he?"

"Yeah he's alive, disgusting but alive" Levi uttered.

Mikasa's face was filled with relief before it turned into rage as she looked at the female titan holding her blades tighter.

"Hey don't go doing anything stupid, we've got want we wanted, let's move, we all know you love him but try not to act crazy about it," Levi said before whooshing off.

She clicked her tongue before putting her blade and following behind Captain Levi.

Captain Levi wasn't really sure of his decision, he wasn't sure if leaving the female titan was the best course of action, while he was moving he caught a glimpse of the female titan crying while her back was resting on the tree.

Mikasa and Levi met up with the rest of the scouts outside of the Forest, they had gathered all the dead bodies they could find and placed them in the ride.

They are also taking a break to make sure that their horses were fed and they carried as many fallen soldiers as possible…

Apparently, Eren was attacked by a titan and was saved by Ava who brought him unconscious so he was laying in the other carrier with Ayato sleeping right beside him.

Mikasa sat down beside Ayato holding his hands as she watched him sleep.

"This is the part of the job I can never get used to," Jean uttered, watching the pile of bodies that was right in front of him.

He and Armin were covering the dead bodies in white and placing them in the carrier.

"I agree with you… we lost so many lives" Armin uttered.

"And for what? We didn't even find out who was inside the female titan"

Armin dropped the dead body in the carrier as he looked over to where Ayato was placed, "I bet he knows who is in there" Armin thought to himself.

Connie and Sasha were feeding the horse, "Hey, I don't think I can get used to this," Connie said, feeding grass to the horse.

"Me too, but we survived right, we should be happy," Sasha said, her voice breaking and it was obvious she was afraid.

"I don't know, it's really hard to celebrate when you are surrounded by so many dead," Connie said with a stern look as he kept feeding the horses.

"How is this all?" Commander Erwin asked, holding a list of names in his hands.

"Yes sir, we estimate five that couldn't be recovered, the titan didn't leave much to take back with us, I think it's better we don't give those to their families," The soldiers said.

"We'll register them as missing"

"He was right there once he died, why won't you let us get him?" One of Aiko's friends yelled.

"There are titans surrounding the area, it's too much risk" The other soldier yelled.

"So what we'll fight, it's what we do" The other soldier with the brown hair yelled.

"Ivan and I grew up in the same place, I couldn't face them if I went to his family empty-handed"

"Stop making a scene" Levi appeared on top of a horse, "If you've seen his body then there's no need, makes no difference if he's here or there, he's dead".
