Divorce?

Yi Tian drove over to Wen Xi's house. Wen Xi saw Yi Tian's car parked at her front porch and she hastily walked to the front door to open the door for him. Yi Tian walked inside her house with his haversack.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you didn't have a place to stay? You didn't have to spend money to stay at the hotel you know..."

"I didn't want you to look down on me. I don't want your parents to find me a burden but here I am now."

"They won't!"

"And my dad has a problem, a big one. Could I discuss about the problem with you?" Yi Tian asked.

"Of course, what's the problem?"

"The problem is that my dad is cheating on my mother. And he can't stop! He needs help! And my mother knows nothing about it. And I'm in the middle of this situation. What can I do to help? My dad has like 5 mistresses. I honestly feel bad for my mother. My dad should feel awful to but he doesn't..."

"What a bastard! I'm sorry, but it's the truth. You can first start of by telling your mother what really happens behind her back. Tell your mother that your dad is cheating on her! Expose him!"

"OK, then what next? What else can I do to help? If I expose him, then will my mother divorce him? I really wish for my mother to do so. And I honestly don't feel bad if she does it," Yi Tian said.

"Your father is in trouble. Anyways, you can help by giving them the divorce papers," Wen Xi suggested.

"OK! Should I give my mom a call right now?"

"That's up to you."

"I'll do it now."

He dialed his mother's number and she picked up.

"Hello, Yi Tian. Your father said that you won't be back for the next few days. Why is that so?"

"Your husband kicked me out of the house because I didn't help him investigate and invade someone's privacy."

"Oh my... what else is he doing behind my back?" She questioned.

"He is cheating on you with 5 other ladies... earlier on he brought one of the ladies back to our house."

"So I wasn't hearing things. Your dad said I heard wrongly, I did hear a lady's voice just now. And 5 damn ladies! That's so many! Your dad... I-I can't stand him anymore! If he wants to cheat, I rather not be his wife!"

"Mom, are you going to divorce him? If you are, I'm just saying but I don't think dad is willing to leave that house of yours."

"I should divorce him, shouldn't I?"

"If you divorce him, I'm all for it. I'm not against it!"

"OK, son. Get me the divorce papers."

"Gladly."

Yi Tian's mother hung up the phone.

"How'd it go?" Wen Xi asked.

"My mom told me to get the divorce papers for her. She couldn't stand my dad doing all those things behind her back."

Yi Tian did some research on divorce in Singapore and texted his mom about it.

"Mom, I found out that you need to be the one who files the divorce. You need to file the Writ Of Divorce, Statement Of Claim and Statement Of Particulars in the Family Justice Courts. Then you will need to pay the appropriate fees. If dad chooses to contest the divorce or if he agrees to the divorce but still wants to be heard, he will have to file the Memorandum of Appearance and a Defense. Then those talking stuff will happen at court. And if the court is satisfied that your marriage has irretrievably broken down then the case will proceed to ancillary matters stage of divorce proceedings. Both parties are required to file Affidavits of Assets and Means. They will discuss about that and once it's settled, 3 months later both of you can apply for Final Judgement."

"OK thank you, Tian."

"Must I get a lawyer?"

"It's not necessary but it depends and it's up to you."

"Okay"

Wen Xi watched as he typed that entire message to his mother.

"Woah, you did do research," Wen Xi spoke.

"Yeah... now I'm tired..."

"Let me make you dinner first then you can go to bed," Wen Xi said.

"Thanks, Xi."

"Idiot..."

"Huh who are you calling an idiot?"

"Let's get a divorce..."

"What why? What's wrong? It's not fair for you to put your anger out on me! And I'm not an idiot," he shouted at her.

"I know you've been cheating on me. I can't stand you anymore! You were so kind to me but I didn't know you were doing this behind my back! What a bastard! 5 ladies you cheated on me for! You don't deserve to be in my life and I want you out of my life!"

"Fine! File the paperwork! I'll see you in court! In the meanwhile, you can stay here."

"I don't want to stay with such a person! I'm going to live with Yi Tian! You kicked him out of the house because he didn't help you do some investigation on some person! I can't believe you! You said you loved me! But I guess not! You don't even love Yi Tian! To have thrown him out of the house because he didn't do something you requested of him, how heartless," she said as she turned around to leave the house.

Yi Tian's phone rang, it was an incoming call from his mother.

"Hello mom?"

"Yes, son. I'm coming to stay with you! Send me your address..."

"Oh no..."

"Why?"

"I'm staying at my girlfriend's house."

"Oh, could you ask if I could stay over?"

"OK, hold on."

"Xi!!"

"Yes? Can my mom stay over?"

"Yeah sure... my parents don't stay with me so it's fine, they won't know."

"Oh okay THANK YOU, XI!"

"Hello mom? She said it's fine if you stay over."

"Oh send me the address? I'll come over now."

"Alright."

He sent Wen Xi's address to his mother. Yi Tian's mother took a cab over to her house.

"I guess I'll make 3 bowls of chicken noodles instead of 2," Wen Xi said to herself.

Moments after Wen Xi finished preparing dinner, Yi Tian's mom arrived at the house. Yi Tian rushed over to open the door. He greeted his mother and she walked into the house. She saw Wen Xi in the kitchen and thanked her for allowing her to stay at her house.

"Your girlfriend's pretty! What's her name?" Yi Tian's mother asked.

"Her name is Wen Xi, and I know right. She's beautiful and kind and sweet! But a bit on the talkative side HA HA."

"But you talk as much as I do!" Wen Xi complained.
