6 Code:Initiative

Looking at his shackles, Dagen spun the shackle on his right wrist till the chain connection point was on the outer side of his wrist. He hit the connection loop against the surrounding surface of the triangular crack in an attempt to loosen it. In hopes of making enough of a dent to give him some grip to pull it out with.

Praying that he was being quiet enough not to alert the guards.

After about 2 days of smashing his wrist against the wall, Dagen had finally made a couple sizable divots on 2 sides of the crack. Almost big enough to let his fingers get a grip on the center. Every hit was now sending waves of pain through his body. His wrist, now in colors he's never seen before, was bleeding from the constant beating. Clenching his teeth with tears forming in his eyes, Dagen didn't slow down or stop for even a minute. Knowing that the doctor could walk in at any moment, he had to have this piece of wall out in time. Or miss what might be their only chance to get out of this hellish place.

With another small chunk falling to the floor he decided to once again try removing the center piece. His right hand shaking uncontrollably. Wrapping the tips of his fingers around the edge of the center with as much grip as he could muster, he started yanking on it. Yanking and wiggling, yanking and wiggling, and finally, progress. Yanking it again, The center jerked out about an inch and got stuck again. With some resistance, he continued wiggling it out inch by inch until it was out about 3 inches.

'Finally I'm getting somewhere!'

Upon that thought, the door could be heard opening at the end of the hall, multiple footsteps approaching.

Noticing that the footsteps weren't just the guards, Varin shot a desperate glance at Dagen.

Sweating bullets and shaking, panic grasped Dagens heart like a vise.

'No!'

'Shit, shit, I almost have it!'

'Come on!'

'COME OUT SON OF A BITCH!!!'

As if hearing his thoughts, the last inch jerked out of the wall right before the doctor and Guards appeared in front of Varins cell.

Trying to calm down and avoid raising suspicion, Dagen stood up and pressed himself against the back wall, as if he was cowering away from the guards, at least, that's how he wanted it to seem. He grasped the chunk of wall firmly behind his back, getting a feel for it and clearing his mind. Waiting for the moment to use it.

The doctor looked into Varins cell, took his glasses off and signed, he seemed frustrated with something. Putting his glasses back on he gave guard #02 a nod, signaling the guard to reel Varin in and unlock the door. Guard #01 entered first.

From Dagens perspective, the mechanism controlling the length of Varins chains was to the right of Varins cell. That's where guard #02 is. Inside the cell, guard #01 stood to the left, while the assistant stood to the right closer to the bars. The doctor was approaching Varin in the middle, not quite in position.

The doctor looked annoyed at Varin for some reason and for the first time ever, he actually spoke to him. Or perhaps he was talking out loud to himself?

"Black, you have been the most incompliant, stubborn, fruitless test subject I've ever had the displeasure of working with. Why aren't you giving me results? What's the malfunction here?"

*Sigh* "Whatever, if this doesn't do the trick I don't know what will."

Realizing the meaning behind that statement Varins eyes grew wide in fear, his breath steadily becoming more labored as the doctor drew closer.

'SHIT! Come on Dagen! Come on, come on, come-!'

Holding up the syringe, the doctor started stepping forward, ready to administer it. In response, guard #01 began moving into position.
