Chapter 2— The Void and Beyond

~Fun Fact: Did you know that Mrs Weasley asks her children which platform the 'Hogwarts Express' departs from but she should know this perfectly well; she departed seven times from the same platform after all.

I didn't know how long I'd been drifting like this. Days? Weeks? Months? Years?

It all felt so blurred. I knew that I had lived but everything seemed fading away from me. As if it was at the tip of my tongue yet refused to come to fruition. I felt the call of the void once more as I slipped in and out of consciousness. When I had finally come to, a feeling akin to being under a spotlight enveloped my being.

The crying of a newly born child filled the room as a nurse presented a young woman with raven black hair, dark blue eyes and brown skin with her baby. The baby's wailing persisted as the nurse swaddled him with several blankets.

"Your child has been delivered ma'am" She said professionally as the mother enveloped her child into her arms, completely oblivious to the small squeal the nurse let out upon seeing the face of her child.

"Your name will be Aayan Barak, little one." she said looking at the child with an expression filled with motherly love as the baby's blue eyes glimmered intelligently at the matching pair looking down at him.

(Aayan POV)

When I came to, I found myself staring at a familiar face as my heart was overcome with several different emotions. I eventually settled at happiness as an overjoyed giggle escaped my lips at the sight of the person before me.

'She looks just like mum' I thought. 'I don't know what their link is, but the love she feels for me is sincere; that much I can tell.'

Blinking at his mother for a little longer, Aayan felt himself overcome by a sudden tiredness as he drifted off to sleep in the arms of his mother who had also closed her eyes.

*A/N: This is the second chapter! There's been a few minor changes. Even if it has made the chapter far shorter, I feel like the whole R.O.B reincarnation trope is a tad overused here on WebNovel and makes a fanfic not really feel as if it's a fanfic anymore— if that makes any sense. And this way, it frees Yan up to explore the world completely by his own volition.
