It's not and I'll tell you why. We do it all the time. How are you at home? How are you at school? How are you on a night out? Very different? You won't think so at first but stop and think. You're not different, rather, you exaggerate different aspects of yourself depending on how you're with. But when this happens in fiction: woe is me.

Wasn't a fan of Luke dying but you at least seem to have Athos reap the rewards and consequences of his action. Objectively speaking, this Luke hasn't done anything wrong and has been nothing but a good dude to Athos. Sure maybe he was a little too eager to go on his quest, but he's a teenager. At least Athos isn't being a hypocrite. What I'd like to see is Athos exercising his guilt—be that caring for Luke's mother or maybe looking out of the Hermes cabin. From what I've seen, his morals aren't so far gone that he wouldn't do some of the above. Though he's more likely to take care of Luke's mother than anything else.
