hail the conquerer hero

After binge-playing a game for seventy-two hours, the single-player streamer Yang Yu, who made his living selling game guides, quietly passed away in his bed. Unaware of his own death, he was invited by a deity to conquer an RPG game, and was persuaded into choosing the hardest civilian starter. Couldn't even defeat a single slime after leaving the novice village? Want to learn a taunt skill but have to actually verbally taunt? And the gacha only yields trash? Faced with numerous hardships, he actually... got excited. A true gamer never fears challenges; they only fear the game being too easy. As his sparse panel began filling out, Yang Yu felt an unprecedented satisfaction swell within him, and he became addicted to making waves, unable to stop himself. 'Hey? There seems to be a lone hero up ahead. Watch as I turn him into a unit of combat power! Damn, I’ve been spotted. Hero, don't run away!'

It all happened so abruptly. After finally grasping my situation, I found myself in an entirely different world. Looking around, I noticed others in the same predicament… Could this possibly be one of those Hero developments? Was there a tyrannical Demon Lord needing extermination, or would I be tossed into the maelstrom of war? Whatever it was, I was afraid. I never wanted to be a Hero. I don’t want to harm another…… Ignore the nonsense I was spouting; there was nothing to fret over. The Demon Lord was slain a thousand years ago, and 800 years had passed since the last war. The nobles didn’t treat us summoned like tr*sh; instead, we were kindly cared for. The Demons have been on good terms with Humans for some time now. Dangers, such as monsters, were being taken care of by the Guild and the Order of Knights. What’s more surprising is the fact that I wasn’t even a hero! Instead, I was unintentionally summoned! It also turns out that this world was a world in which the three races, the Spirit World’s Magical Races, the Celestial World’s Divine Races, and the Mortal World’s Human Races, are kind neighbours. Here, everyone lives a peaceful and fulfilling life. In summary, this other world was――at peace. What’s my plan for the future? For my limited stay here, I will live this world to its fullest; going on a cultural exchange, sightseeing, then, after experiencing the festival that is only held once every ten years, …… I shall safely return home. However, despite my lust for a peaceful last year before returning, this planet’s heavyweights have begun amassing around me, and……

Zheng Ming, who had transmigrated to another world, carried with him a set of Hero Cards which, given enough Prestige Points, could summon the heroes from these cards: With the power of these heroes, you could cut down enemies while on horseback, scale walls and rooftops with ease, unleash a Celestial Flying Immortal attack, and even command the might to bewitch the heavens and earth! Of course, riding your sword through the Nine Heavens, vanquishing demons between earth and sky was not just a dream, nor was it impossible to transform into the Ancient Golden Crow, scorching the heavens and boiling the seas...

In times of war… What is a Battle Mecha engineer expected to do? Are they expected to do research and realize their imagination? How about a Battle Mecha pilot? Are they expected to enter battle with their mechas as they display their exquisite control through bizarre and bewildering techniques? What about a member of the special scouts? Are they expected to infiltrate deep into the enemy lines as they use stellar unarmed fighting skills to suppress the enemy with a single move? Or are they expected to make use of disguises and stealth techniques to take out the enemy? And what about a military officer? Are they expected to analyze the outcome of a battle? Or are they expected to create brilliant strategies to triumph over the enemy through a miraculous move? For someone who excels in human psychology, deceit, assassination, and disguise, what happens when that person is merged with all those professions? This is the story of a cowardly, wretched, and despicable fatty.

It was just a game; one Evan played way too much, but it was still a game in the end. At least it that’s what it was supposed to be... However, on the day the main quest ended, he discovered it was more than just a game. The world of Aidos was real, and the demon threat was even more so. He was sent to be the leader of the new generation of heroes and save the world from the demon invasion by the god who made the game. Unfortunately, nothing was as simple as it may have seemed. As the truth behind the invasion and the previous Seven Heroes was slowly revealed, he began to have second thoughts about his choices. He began to question whether the demons were truly the enemies of Aidos. Even more so, when he discovered a new truth. That he may not actually be who he thought he was. #wsa WSA 2022 Entry [Check out my other stories from my profile: Godslayer’s Legend, Reincarnated Hero System & Beyond the Bloodline] ◇　◇　◇ Discord Link: https://discord.gg/ZXyAjGtS4r ◇　◇　◇ Support Me: https://ko-fi.com/michae_l ◇　◇　◇ I'm new to writing, so I hope you all will support me on this journey. Just as many games offer various action and dialogue options that lead to different branching storylines, this book creates characters, advances the plot and builds the world view by providing a large number of different branches and using dice rolls to determine the outcome.

Life is dark and meaningless. That's what it had taught me every single day I'd been cursed to live it. But now, finally, that would all end. My arm ached where the needle pierced the vein. Already, my fingers were numb, spots spinning in front of my eyes. Something clattered onto the pavement. The needle. It must have slipped out of my hand. Nothingness swirled around me, bringing the first sense of peace that I'd felt since...ever. But that was okay. It meant that there was no one to miss me, and no one I would miss. Well, perhaps there would be a few, but they could always find others to extract their cruel, sadistic pleasure from. My last breath was rough and shallow, the last beat of my heart pitifully fail. I sank to the alley floor, eyes closing, welcoming the blessed nothingness of the end. Only...death was supposed to be dark, wasn't it? And since when did 'nothingness' have so many gods?
