The Malabar Samrajya did not just outlaw the sword; they outlawed the very dirt beneath our feet. Ten years ago, a ruthless foreign invader conquered Urukkunagara the richest iron kingdom in the world through betrayal and gunpowder cannons. To ensure the population could never rebel, the new Emperor passed a cruel law: The Iron Tax. He seized all the mines, executed anyone caught with the secret high-carbon steel known as Urukku, and left the people with brittle iron weapons that shatter on impact. Dev, a twenty-five-year-old mercenary captain, learned this lesson in blood when his entire squad was slaughtered because their iron blades snapped against the empire’s heavy plate mail. Dev only survived thanks to Andhakārī—the Bringer of Darkness a dying, chipped Talwar forged from the last surviving ingot of true Urukku steel. But one legendary sword cannot win a war against ten thousand men. To build a real rebellion, Dev needs a factory. He needs to rescue Kavi, a blind master blacksmith locked deep inside the ocean-cliff fortress of Black Rock Prison, who holds the secret to restarting the forbidden crucible furnaces. If Andhakārī shatters before Dev can re arm his people, the secret of the unstoppable steel will be lost forever.
