Well, in many anime, the filler episodes are often not relevant to the main story. For example, in 'Naruto', some episodes are just about the characters having fun or doing side quests that don't really contribute to the main plot of Naruto's journey to become Hokage. Another example could be the little comical skits in 'One Piece' where the crew has some wacky adventures on a random island that don't directly tie into the search for the One Piece.

Character development is key when rewriting an anime story. You need to ensure that the characters grow or change in a believable way throughout the new story. The theme also matters. It should be relevant and carried through the story. For example, if the original theme was about hope, in the rewrite, it should still be there in some form. Additionally, the tone of the story, whether it's light - hearted or dark, should be maintained or adjusted deliberately to fit the new direction of the rewrite.

Firstly, the quality of writing. A lot of fanfic are written by amateurs, so there could be grammar and spelling mistakes. Secondly, the interpretation of the characters. It might not always align with the original anime's portrayal. For example, in some lemon fanfic, a usually serious character might be made overly flirty.

Avoid making the insertion too forced. If it doesn't seem to fit the overall concept of the OC, it will look out of place. For example, if your OC is a historical figure from a real - world setting, suddenly adding elements from a futuristic anime fanfic without proper explanation would be a bad idea. Also, don't change the fundamental essence of the OC just to fit the fanfic. If your OC is known for being a kind - hearted healer and you make them into a cold - blooded villain just because of the fanfic, it won't work well.

Enjoying anime and being an otaku were two different things. Otakus usually referred to people who had a strong interest in 2D culture, games, and animation. They liked to express their feelings and fantasies through 2D media. People who liked to watch anime were those who had a strong interest in anime works and liked to watch anime for entertainment and relaxation. Although there might be some similarities between watching anime and being an otaku, they were not exactly the same concept.
