" Sniper " was a Spring Festival war movie directed by Zhang Yimou and Zhang Mo, with Chen Yongsheng and Zhang Yu as the leading actors and Zhang Yi as the main actor. It was mainly supported by the National Film Bureau of China and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee's propaganda department. The film was released in mainland China on February 1,2022, earning 608 million yuan at the box office. The film was set against the backdrop of the War to Resist the United States and aid Korea. At that time, it was at the position stage after the end of the fifth battle, and the "Cold Gun and Cold Cannon Movement" took place. Liu Wenwu, the squad leader of the fifth squad, achieved the best result in the division with a Mosinaga rifle with a range of only 600 meters without a scope. He was called the "Death God of China" by the American newspapers. The United Nations sent "America's number one sniper" John to capture Liu Wenwu alive, and John used the captured scout with important intelligence as bait to carry out the trap plan. The company commander ordered the fifth class to save Liang Liang. Before Class Five set off, the high school student Dayong was asked to stay for an interview, but he and Liang Liang were classmates, so he asked to meet up. When Class Five arrived at the battle point to rescue Liang Liang, they were ambushed. In this situation where there was a disparity in the strength of the enemy and the enemy, the soldiers used their combat wisdom to launch a life-and-death duel with the enemy. The film had made great achievements in terms of awards. It won the 35th Golden Rooster Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Recording, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Story Film. It also won the Golden Deer Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Actor and Best Film at the 17th Changchun Film Festival. It also won the Outstanding Film Award of the "Five Ones Project" of the 16th Spiritual Civilization Construction of the Central Ministry of Public Affairs. In December 2022, he was nominated for the Best Film Award and the Best Director Award at the 14th Macau International Film Festival's Golden Lotus. He also won the Best Cinematography Award. There were many things to watch in the movie. The first was the father-daughter co-directing. Zhang Yimou was working with his daughter, Zhang Mo, who had rich experience in the film industry. Secondly, the background of the story was based on real people. The prototype of the protagonist Zhang Dagong was Zhang Taofang, a second-class sniper hero and a special hero of the China People's volunteers. Moreover, Zhang Yimou, Zhang Yi, and Liu Haocun worked together three times. Zhang Yi played the role in the film, and Liu Haocun played the female role in the film. In addition, the film also had many merits on the artistic level. Zhang Yimou did not give the soldiers a golden finger, which truly presented the situation of the China army's poor equipment and shortage of materials at that time. The soldiers of the fifth squad were mostly in their teens or twenties, which highly restored the image of the soldiers who went to the war at that time. Watching " Hunting Poison " wasn't enough.
