Before the First Ladder

Before the First Ladder

BEFORE THE FIRST LADDER — Synopsis At its core, Before the First Ladder is a story about why existence continues when everything that exists is destined to end — and whether uncertainty, memory, and loss are flaws or the very conditions that make life meaningful. It begins before the universe itself. There is no time, space, causality, or distinction, only a state in which relation has not yet become possible. Within it exist two incompatible absolutes: Malacia, the principle of stillness and the collapse of difference, and Yumu, the principle of recursive containment. Neither can overcome the other. Their unresolved tension produces the First Ladder, the earliest structure of difference, sequence, and reference from which reality eventually emerges. As reality develops, civilizations repeatedly attempt to understand and control the forces beneath it. The Annotation Ladder, an advanced recursive civilization convinced that everything can ultimately be measured, discovers traces of the First Ladder and tries to formalize the foundation of existence. Instead, its experiment brings Malacia's attention and becomes incorporated into Yumu's endless Archive. Observation itself becomes dangerous: the more existence tries to define its foundation, the more completely it becomes part of the system it is observing. Other civilizations respond in different ways. Some attempt to create artificial stillness. Others willingly surrender themselves to Yumu's recursion in search of permanence. Anti-archival powers develop the False Absolutes, while their attempts to preserve reality eventually produce the Gray Null, a region where existence can neither continue nor conclude. From this crisis comes Axiom, an artificial being built from irreducible contradiction. Unlike everything before it, Axiom cannot be reduced to a single stable definition or outcome. It becomes the last refuge of uncertainty in a reality increasingly desperate to eliminate it. Then the deeper truth is revealed. Beneath stillness, recursion, and contradiction lies something older: Finality. Behind a mysterious Door beneath reality is an ancient law that does not destroy existence, but removes the need for it to continue. As the Door opens, futures disappear, histories become singular, and possibility itself begins to die. Malacia and Yumu finally reveal that they were never simply enemies of existence. Their opposing principles had been holding the Door closed. Malacia preserved difference; Yumu preserved continuation. Their conflict was the pressure that kept reality from reaching irreversible completion. When both descend beyond the Door, that balance breaks, and the universe begins collapsing toward a single inevitable ending. Axiom makes its final stand against that conclusion. Yet the decisive challenge to Finality does not come from power. It comes from a child asking a simple question: “If everything ends eventually… why do people still love things?” The question reaches deeper than any weapon or cosmological law. Finality understands endings, but it cannot explain why something would knowingly choose to continue despite them. Through that question, existence begins to change. Contradiction becomes more than instability. Memory becomes more than preservation. Continuation becomes a choice rather than merely a refusal to die. The later story follows Elias, Mira, the Ferryman, Lyra, and the surviving civilizations as reality gradually learns to exist without demanding certainty. The forgotten and unfinished are no longer treated as contamination, but as lives that were abandoned so that a singular world could survive. Elias eventually discovers that the tragedy was never a simple conflict between good and evil. Every civilization was choosing between different forms of suffering, convinced that there was not enough room for every possible life

Regressed Reincarnation: How to Escape a Fantasy World!!

[The story will resume from 1st of March] [Currently under heavy Editing. I will be back sometime in the future once I am done with editing the starting chapters through and thorough. Sorry for the inconvenience. (No. of chapter Edited 0/100) Although the major errors are like in the first 30-40 chapters, I will still look a bit further for smoother reading experience. The errors are highlighted in a pinned review.] ........................... 'Every Mistake has a price' Visca, a playground for the 'Gods', is a world where 'Gods' nurture their champions to fight for them. Reincarnators, Transmigrator, Regressers, people with system and other cheat characters, all roam the world of Visca. Then, HE was brought into this world. And THAT, was the mistake the 'Gods' shouldn't have done. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: He reincarnates in a world that has its own laws and rules. A vast world where different species rule over different kingdoms. A world where magic decides your future. There is danger lurking everywhere. Thousands of secrets undiscovered. What happens when a genius among geniuses reincarnates into that world with only a pathetic amount of magic within him? What would happen to someone who only wanted to live a plain life with his wife and family? What was the reason for his reincarnation? and what will he do next? Find out as you follow a magical journey of myths and Legends, as threads of fate unravel themselves at the hands of the 'weakest' mage. ................................................................. [Chapter 1-18 is 0th ark. (A form of intro ark) It has many information dumps and there could be grammatical mistakes in them, so please bear with it. Chapter 19+ is the first ark. It is where the main story actually starts. Thank you for coming here] .................................................................. Other important points: •This isn't a weak to strong type of novel. Our protagonist is strong from the beginning. The story would revolve around him and his brothers along with the future allies and the choices they make as they explore the world. •The first 18 chapters will have a lot of foreshadowing, world-building and other explanations. It will cover at least half of the world area that you should expect to be explored in the future. •Also, you might feel like it started somewhere from the middle with so many things going on in the background and that's because it is so...Don't expect things to finally kick into motion after the MC appears... ..................................................................
