Dua bulan setelah itu, ia dikabarkan meninggal dunia karena mengalami kebocoran lambung. Semenjak Rubi pergi dari sisinya, hidup Jaya jadi berantakan. Ia tidak nafsu makan. Akhirnya pria itu tewas mengenaskan dengan menggenggam foto Rubi yang ia dapatkan dari buku nikahnya dulu.
