In Yu Hua's short story "A Bouncing Game", from the perspective of an old man in a wheelchair in a small store, it depicts the sorrow and helplessness of a family of three going to the hospital for treatment, as well as the old man's own sad experience, expressing the cruelty of reality. The old man Lin Deshun is paralyzed in his lower body and confined to a wheelchair. Years ago, one night, when he went upstairs to close the window, his legs suddenly gave way on the stairs and he could never stand up again. Although the story doesn't detail much about his post - paralysis situation, it can be imagined that his adaptation process was full of torment and despair. However, he persisted in this long time, and now he runs a small store selling food and fruits, sitting by the window every day to watch the passers - by outside and occasionally serve customers. It is in this situation that he witnesses the encounter of a family of three. There is a "bouncing game" played by a seven - year - old son and his mother on the sidewalk. The son excitedly steps on his mother's feet while the mother keeps dodging. When the son finally steps on his mother's feet, he cheers happily. The father, after buying an orange and turning around, watches them play this game until the son steps on the mother's feet. This little boy has a serious illness, his skin is abnormally pale, and his poor parents don't want to give up on him and come to the hospital for treatment every day. Read more exciting novels for free
