Author's Note
Before you begin, I'd like to set expectations for this story.
If you're expecting an ultra-edgy protagonist who kills at every opportunity, acts like the original Darkseid from chapter one or constantly chooses the most brutal solution available, this story probably won't be for you.
The protagonist is, at his core, an ordinary person suddenly placed in the body and responsibilities of one of fiction's greatest tyrants.
His journey is not about becoming a hero, nor is it about becoming a mindless monster overnight.
He will kill when necessary.
He will make morally questionable decisions.
He will manipulate, conquer and rule.
But he will also hesitate, compromise, learn and sometimes reject solutions he personally finds unnecessary.
This is not a story about an evil man becoming stronger.
This is a story about a normal person slowly learning what it means to rule an empire while carrying the weight, expectations and legacy of Darkseid.
Expect pragmatism over cruelty, long-term planning over pointless destruction and gradual character evolution over immediate personality changes.
