The Gospel of Luke

The Gospel of Luke

The Gospel according to Luke is the first part of a two-volume work that continues the biblical history of God’s dealings with humanity found in the Old Testament, showing how God’s promises to Israel have been fulfilled in Jesus and how the salvation promised to Israel and accomplished by Jesus has been extended to the Gentiles. The stated purpose of the two volumes is to provide Theophilus and others like him with certainty—assurance—about earlier instruction they have received. To accomplish his purpose, Luke shows that the preaching and teaching of the representatives of the early church are grounded in the preaching and teaching of Jesus, who during his historical ministry prepared his specially chosen followers and commissioned them to be witnesses to his resurrection and to all else that he did. This continuity between the historical ministry of Jesus and the ministry of the apostles is Luke’s way of guaranteeing the fidelity of the Church’s teaching to the teaching of Jesus. Luke’s story of Jesus and the church is dominated by a historical perspective. This history is first of all salvation history. God’s divine plan for human salvation was accomplished during the period of Jesus, who through the events of his life fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies, and this salvation is now extended to all humanity in the period of the church. This salvation history, moreover, is a part of human history. Luke relates the story of Jesus and the church to events in contemporary Palestinian history for, as Paul says, “this was not done in a corner.” Finally, Luke relates the story of Jesus and the church to contemporaneous church history. Luke is concerned with presenting Christianity as a legitimate form of worship in the Roman world, a religion that is capable of meeting the spiritual needs of a world empire like that of Rome. To this end, Luke depicts the Roman governor Pilate declaring Jesus innocent of any wrongdoing three times. At the same time Luke argues in Acts that Christianity is the logical development and proper fulfillment of Judaism and is therefore deserving of the same toleration and freedom traditionally accorded Judaism by Rome. The prominence given to the period of the church in the story has important consequences for Luke’s interpretation of the teachings of Jesus. By presenting the time of the church as a distinct phase of salvation history, Luke accordingly shifts the early Christian emphasis away from the expectation of an imminent parousia to the day-to-day concerns of the Christian community in the world. He does this in the gospel by regularly emphasizing the words “each day” in the sayings of Jesus. Although Luke still believes the parousia to be a reality that will come unexpectedly, he is more concerned with presenting the words and deeds of Jesus as guides for the conduct of Christian disciples in the interim period between the ascension and the parousia and with presenting Jesus himself as the model of Christian life and piety. Throughout the gospel, Luke calls upon the Christian disciple to identify with the master Jesus, who is caring and tender toward the poor and lowly, the outcast, the sinner, and the afflicted, toward all those who recognize their dependence on God, but who is severe toward the proud and self-righteous, and particularly toward those who place their material wealth before the service of God and his people. No gospel writer is more concerned than Luke with the mercy and compassion of Jesus. No gospel writer is more concerned with the role of the Spirit in the life of Jesus and the Christian disciple, with the importance of prayer, or with Jesus’ concern for women. While Jesus calls all humanity to repent, he is particularly demanding of those who would be his disciples. Of them he demands absolute and total detachment from family and material possessions. To all who respond in faith and repentance to the word Jesus preaches, he brings salvation and peace and life.

Although the title was like a melodramatic drama, the content was refreshing. The user reviews were both positive and positive, and the book was still in short supply. "Zhenguan Han Son-in-law," written by big eyes and small goldfish. The protagonist, Wei Hanzi, was a fool who had transmigrated in the early Tang Dynasty. The ending was a little bad. The book was scarce and could be tried. " The Industrial Revolution of Ming Dynasty ", written by the Science and Technology Board. The doctor of mathematics and physics returned to the Chongzhen period to carry out the industrial revolution. There were many supporting roles, and they were well portrayed. It was between poisonous grass and grain, and the book shortage could be entered. " Please Call Me Priest " was written by Pride. Soul Awakening Sermon
There were many possible explanations for the sermon on "Awakening of the Soul". The following was a comprehensive understanding: From a religious perspective, for example, in the Christian Psalm 23 (3),"The awakening of the soul, walking the path of righteousness", this sermon would usually explain the awakening of the soul within the framework of religious doctrines. It emphasized that under the guidance of God, the human soul woke up from a confused and sleeping state and embarked on the path of justice that was in line with God's will. The pastor or speaker might explain the importance of God's grace and truth in the sermon, pointing out that through faith in the Lord, people could awaken their souls and let their lives radiate the glory of heaven and reflect the eternal light of grace. The sermon may also include prayers for the listeners, asking God to bless them, so that the brothers and sisters can see the power of Jesus, live a victorious life in this world, be comforted and encouraged, and thus obey the leadership of the Savior. From the perspective of philosophy and spiritual perception, the awakening of the soul could be understood as an awakening in the depths of an individual's heart. It symbolized a person's release from the past, from the state of being lost, numb, or confused by the secular world, and returning to their true self. For example, the awakening of the soul mentioned in some essays or poems might be that after experiencing various situations in life, people began to re-examine their attitude towards life, values, and the meaning of life. It was as if in the warm atmosphere of summer, people felt that the accumulation of life energy was to return to zero, return to the original, find the original self, and awaken spirituality. This awakening could be expressed as indifference to fame, glory, honor, and temptation. It could be expressed as a calmer attitude towards life. It could be treated with kindness, hard work, perseverance, and other qualities. It could be done step by step on the road ahead, reconciled with the years, and accepted the arrangements of life. It could have a beautiful vision for the future, and it could be down-to-earth to move forward to the other side of happiness. At the same time, when he saw himself as a grain of sand, a passing soul resting in the human world, he no longer felt disgusted. Instead, he returned his life to a pure state. This was also a kind of pure state after the soul woke up.

The Sermon on Eternal Life
In the Christian sermons, there was information on how to obtain eternal life. It mentioned that a man who had the handsomeness of a young man, wealth, and the status of an official (regarded as a typical "tall, rich, and handsome") asked Jesus,"What should I do to deserve eternal life?" According to the theory of the Bible, eternal life was regarded as eternal life with God. The ways to achieve eternal life included faith, virtue, and establishing an intimate relationship with God. Belief was the key, which was to believe in the existence of God, the salvation of Jesus, and the word of God. Virtue was to practice justice, kindness, forgiveness, and love to cultivate good character. It was also to deepen the connection with God through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible, so as to obtain eternal life. However, religious belief was a personal choice. Different people might have different views and explanations on the understanding and realization of immortality. The novel "Ten Years of Death" is equally exciting. The Sermon on Eternal Life
There are Christian sermons about eternal life. For example, in Luke 18:18 - 30, Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record a story. Someone asked Jesus,"What should I do to receive eternal life?" From the Christian point of view, eternal life was seen as eternal life with God. It was not only an infinite extension of time, but also a close connection and perfect fit with God. The way to achieve eternal life included faith, that is, believing in the existence of God, the salvation of Jesus, and the word of God; Virtue, emphasizing moral behavior and a kind lifestyle, cultivating good character through practicing justice, kindness, forgiveness, and love; To establish a close personal relationship with God, to deepen the connection through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible, so as to obtain inner peace and spiritual growth. At the same time, they could be one with God, experience endless love and perfect harmony, and give people a deeper meaning and purpose in life. The Priest's Sermon
A sermon was a way for a pastor to present the content of the sermon. It had a variety of topics and was often based on religious doctrines. For example, some sermons had the theme of "Let the breath enter you, and you will live." They used Ezekiel 37:1 - 14 as the basis of the text to talk about the Spirit of the Lord and related religious revelations. Some pastors would combine their real-life experiences and religious insights to preach, such as reminding people not to think they were smart but to be humble, because only with humility could they accept all kinds of grace, wisdom, and ability. There were also pastors who linked religion to the hot topics of the time during special times, such as the epidemic. For example, there were pastors who said that praying with psalms was the best vaccine. The purpose of sermons was to convey religious doctrines to believers, give spiritual guidance, inspire thinking, and motivate believers to act in their faith and life. Bethel's Sermon
Bethel has many important meanings in religious stories. First of all, Bethel was the place where God appeared to Jacob. When Jacob was fleeing from his brother, Eckstedt, and camping in the wilderness, God appeared to him in a dream. He saw the stairway, the angels, and the Lord God, and heard God's promise. When Jacob woke up, he called the place Bethel, meaning the temple, because he realized that God's presence made the place holy. This event showed that Bethel was a special place where God established contact with Jacob. It was also the place where God revealed his will. It foretold that Jesus was the ladder connecting heaven and earth and connecting God and man. The angels brought the needs of people to God and the blessings of God to people. Later, Jacob's family returned to Bethel after escaping from the pursuit. They built an altar according to the Lord's request and named it El-Bethel, which means the God of Bethel. Rebekah's nurse was buried under the oak tree in Bethel, which implied that Bethel was the source of God's people. After Jacob returned to Canaan from Paddan Aram, he experienced many twists and turns. When he was in danger, God instructed him to return to Bethel to live and build an altar. He led his family to get rid of the foreign idols. After purifying himself, he went to Bethel. After building the altar, God appeared to him again, re-blessing him and changing his name to Israel. This series of events showed the importance of Bethel in Jacob's journey of faith and God's care and plan for Jacob's family. In general, Bethel's relationship with God reflected God's guidance, care, and promises to people. It was an important witness to the inheritance of faith and the interaction between God and people. The story that happened in Bethel showed God's faithfulness, love, and control over the fate of mankind, reminding people of the power of faith and God's eternal will.
