Mr. Lín, Are you Smiling?
Janine Anderson has spent eleven years dreaming about China.
At thirteen, she fell in love with Chinese dramas, music, animation, and the language itself. At twenty four, after years of studying Mandarin, saving money, and talking about her dream so much that her family stopped taking her seriously, she finally does it.
She quits her job, packs two suitcases, and moves from San Francisco to Shenzhen.
There is only one problem.
China is a lot harder than she imagined.
Between failed job interviews, culture shock, and the terrifying realization that watching Chinese dramas does not actually prepare you for real life, Janine starts wondering if she has made the biggest mistake of her life.
Then a recommendation lands her at the doorstep of the powerful Lín family.
Her job should be simple: help Lín Jiāháo, the heir to Tian Yu Ltd., prepare for international business meetings and regain the confidence to speak English publicly.
What Janine does not expect is a boss who secretly arranges trips around China for her, remembers everything she says, and insists that he is absolutely not in love with her.
She also does not expect to fall for a man whose world was never meant to include someone like her.
After all, she only came to China to chase a dream.
She never expected the dream to chase her back.
