Is it true that a celebrity endorses a product?

Answer 1

The products endorsed by celebrities were not necessarily reliable.

On the one hand, there were relevant requirements for celebrity endorsements. For example, the products they endorsed should be of good quality, and the celebrities had better have used the products themselves; the endorsements should be open and transparent, and the supporters should be informed that the endorsements were paid; the celebrities should also be responsible for the endorsements, and they should step forward if there were problems with the products. If a celebrity followed these rules to endorse, then the credibility of the product would be relatively high.

However, on the other hand, in reality, celebrity endorsements often failed. Some celebrities might not fully understand or try out the product when they endorse, for example, they only agreed on the endorsement fee. Some celebrities would carry out false publicity for the sake of profit. For example, when Jing Tian endorsed a fruit and vegetable food from Guangzhou Unlimited Technology Co., Ltd., she claimed that it could prevent oil and sugar and relieve greasy feeling, which was suspected of exaggerating false publicity; Chen He's endorsement of Xianhezhuang Hotpot exaggerated the profit of joining; There were also some celebrity endorsements suspected of violating the Advertising Law. For example, Hou Yaohua and Li Jindou's advertisement double act incident was listed as ten typical cases of suspected violation of the Advertising Law by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. Therefore, consumers couldn't just assume that the product was authentic and reliable just because it was a celebrity endorsement. They also needed to carefully identify it themselves.
