I'm not alone in here.
One: In the mirror, a face not mine. I blink. It doesn't. I run. It follows.
Well, 'Dark Stare' can be a very chilling '2 word horror story'. 'Cold Hand' gives a sense of unease too. Also, 'Hidden Face' is quite spooky.
Here are some: 'Bedroom door creaks.', 'Footsteps in attic.', 'Eyes in the dark.'
Here are some: 'Alone in the dark.' It gives a sense of isolation and the unknown in the darkness which is quite terrifying. Another one could be 'Footsteps, no one there.' Just the idea of hearing footsteps but seeing no one is really spooky. And 'Lost in the forest' also works. Being lost in a vast and often unpredictable forest is a nightmare scenario.
Here are some: 'Alone in the dark', 'Silence then scream', 'Footsteps behind me'.
Here are some: 'Eyes in dark.', 'Footsteps behind me.', 'Face at window.'
One of the best six - word horror stories is 'The last page was blank.' It creates a sense of dread and mystery. Just imagine reading a story that builds up tension, and then when you reach the end, there's nothing. It leaves the reader with so many unanswered questions. It could imply that the storyteller didn't finish, or something more sinister stopped the story from being completed. Maybe it was a curse that silenced the writer, or a sign that the end of the world is so sudden that there's no time to write more. Another great one is 'They found me in time.' This short phrase is full of ambiguity. Found me where? In time for what? Was I lost, or was I in danger? And 'I'm not alone in here.' It gives a feeling of claustrophobia and fear. Are there ghosts, monsters, or something else in the same space as the speaker? It makes the reader wonder about the nature of this unwanted company and the situation the speaker is in.
One example could be: 'I woke in the dark. A cold hand touched my face. I heard a whisper. It said 'join us'. Then I saw the shadowy figures all around. It was my end.
Here are some: 'All teeth, no gums.' 'Bedroom, not alone.' 'Footsteps in attic.'
