Fang Guangyan was a thousand-year-old suspended temple located on the mountainside of Geling, Yongtai County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It was built in the second year of Jianlong of the Northern Song Dynasty (961). It was originally a small pavilion under the rock to worship Guanyin. After many expansions, it formed the present Fangguang Rock. Fangguang Rock Temple was backed by a thousand feet steep rock and faced a thousand feet deep valley. The building was supported by dozens of Chinese firs in front of the cliff, like a castle in the air. It was known as the "Southeast Hanging Temple". The monastery under Fang Guangyan was hidden in the verdant forest. Incense lingered, and the Zen aura was deep. When visiting Fangguang Rock, one could admire the welcoming pine and stone inscriptions, as well as experience the unique mountain paths and clean environment. Fangguang Rock Temple was a famous tourist attraction in Fuzhou City, attracting many tourists.
