Can a novel contract be postponed? What is the longest extension period?
After signing the contract, the author could request an extension of the contract with the publishing house or online platform. However, the specific extension period would vary according to the specific situation. Some platforms might conduct a certain review of the novel after signing the contract. If the review failed, the author might have to extend the contract period. If the author is still not satisfied with the novel after the revision, he may have to ask for an extension of the contract again. As for the longest extension period, there was no clear answer. Different platforms and publishing houses may have different rules, and the maximum extension period may also be different. However, most platforms and publishing houses would give the author a clear answer within a year after signing the contract. If the author needed to extend the contract, he could contact the platform or the publishing house in advance to understand the specific extension period and relevant regulations.
