The literature of the Wei, Jin, Southern, Northern Dynasties, Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties was not exactly the same as the Tang Dynasty literature in the Tang and Song Dynasties. Although these literary periods are all in the sequence of ancient Chinese literature, there are obvious differences in their creation, style, theme and so on. The literature of the Wei, Jin, Southern, Northern Dynasties, Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties referred to the creation of literature during these periods, mainly during the Three Kingdoms period, the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, as well as the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The works of these periods had a variety of styles, including poetry, prose, novels, opera, music, and other artistic forms. In terms of theme, the works of these periods covered politics, history, philosophy, religion, love, friendship and so on. The Tang Dynasty literature was one of the most glorious periods of these periods and an important milestone in the history of ancient Chinese literature. There were many poems, essays, novels and other works in Tang Dynasty literature, which had high artistic and literary value. In terms of the theme, the Tang Dynasty literature covered love, friendship, homesickness, patriotic and other aspects, but also reflected the social, political and cultural environment of the Tang Dynasty. Therefore, although the literature of the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties and the Tang Dynasty literature of the Tang and Song Dynasties were adjacent in time span, they had obvious differences in content, style, theme and so on.
