The old man told him that his ancestor had done something wrong to him hundreds of years ago, so he was exiled to this mountain forest. Ran Ran sympathized with the old man, so she helped him tidy up his residence and cooked him a bowl of hot soup. Not long after, Ran Ran met a female ghost named Yu Chan. She told Ran Ran that her ghost had been searching for her ancestor in hopes of getting some compensation. Ran Ran decided to help Yu Chan find her ancestors, so she began to look for clues. During the search, Ran Ran met a scholar named Li Sheng. He told her that his ancestor had done something wrong to Yu Chan hundreds of years ago. Ran Ran decided to tell Yu Chan the news, hoping to get her forgiveness. In the end, Ran Ran and Yu Chan found the old man's ancestor. The old man told them that he had wronged Yu Chan's ancestor and was exiled to this mountain forest. The old man also told Ran Ran that he could use a special method to make Yu Chan gain her forgiveness. At the end of the story, Ran Ran and Yu Chan returned home together. Yu Chan received her forgiveness, and Ran Ran understood her responsibility. The story ended with the conversation between Ran Ran and Yu Chan, leaving a deep impression of justice and tolerance.
