The original name of Qiviola was Zha Liangyong. He was born in Beijing in 1960. He was a contemporary Chinese poet and essayist. He graduated from Peking University Law School in 1982. In 1990, he began to write his main works, such as Alive, Brothers, and Farewell to Heaven. In 1993, due to the unique style of his works and profound thoughts, he was hailed as the "father of post-90s literature." In 1995, he received a master's degree in literature and went to France to study and settle in Paris. He returned to Beijing in 2003. In 2004, he won the Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao Literature Award for the Great Qin Empire series; in 2007, he won the Chinese Literature Xiang Army Award for the Golden Age; and in 2010, he won the Chinese Literature Xiang Army Award for the Twelve Hours of Chang 'an. In 2014, he published his first French novel, L'Apprenti. In 2017, he published a novel, The Lamp of the Earth. In 2019, he published his novel, Dreams of Mountains and Rivers.
