Journey to the West was a Chinese myth and legend novel. It told the story of Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Monk Sand, and Tang Sanzang (also known as the "Journey to the West"), who went to the Western Heaven to obtain Buddhist scriptures after 81 difficulties. There were many mythological elements and supernatural forces in the story, such as Sun Wukong's supernatural powers, Tang Sanzang's compassion, Zhu Bajie's gluttony and Sand Monk's perseverance. These elements all reflected the characteristics of Chinese mythology. Although there are some fictional elements in Journey to the West, it is regarded as one of the representative works of Chinese myths and legends with extremely high literary value and historical significance.
