Since many people rate this novel badly for a stupid reason (slow pace, boring). I'll give 5 stars. Come on guys you read too much op nonsense novel. If you rate a novel 1 just because it is slow, then 90% of western novels are bad This novel is written by the same author of throne of magical arcana, which is currently my favorite CN. So I have my hopes high for this novel I'll change my rating later

I'm sorry but 90% of western novels are bad by comparison. Just saying, I've spent over 4 years doing nothing but living my daily life and reading, if you can name any western novels that can be consumed and enjoyed like this I will immediately withdraw my point.... However you can't, so sorry, but western novels are like chinese anime, western novels can't compare to chinese novels just like chinese anime can't hold a finger to japanese anime.

You know, this is what we call "everyone has different taste". Perhaps you don't like western novels because it's not your cup of tea. But I asked you few things 1. Is there any CN or JN as popular as lord of the rings ? 2. Is there any CN or JN that was sold as fast as fifty shades of gray ? 3. Is there any CN or JN as popular as the chronicles of narnia ? 4. Is there any CN or JN as popular as twilight ? 5. Is there any CN or JN author as popular as J.K.Rowling ? 6. Is there any CN or JN as popular as Harry Potter ? My advice, read Catcher in the rye Lord of the flies

It may be subjective but I believe it to be an objective fact that Chinese literature is more widely consumed than western literature.

Don't know, don't care. The point is that the west has a dozen, at most, of novels to actually read that are pretty good. I've read a few hundred of these eastern novels easily. Honestly if you take a hard look at western and eastern novels you can easily say that western novels are made to be read, not truely enjoyed... I mean when exactly were you reading Lord of the Flies, Twilight, or 50Shades and actually imagining yourself as the maincharacter and taking this journey with them, the answer is that you typically don't because a western novel is just telling you to sit the f*ck down and read the characters journey, whilst an eastern novel is typically made to be YOUR journey. This is a huge difference that goes down to the very core of literature and one that I feel the west has yet to realize how to write for some reason or another.

Hey kid, this is why I said "everyone has a different taste". And this is a stupid statement of yours, "imagining yourself as the main character" and "western novels are made to be read" "Imagining yourself as a the main character" Lol I read novels for a good storyline, good character development, good logic, etc. and I don't read repetitive strory with garbage tropes and logic. Of course and ignorant kid like you wouldn't agree with this point of mine. "Western novels are made to be read" Lol of course novels are made to be read. Not to be fapped to. This is very stupid and idiotic statement

Do you know that you almost can't find any plot holes on good western novels. Do you know why ? Because they have been edited for multiple times Read another novel of the author of tate yuusha. I forget it's title but it doesn't has any plot holes

Hostile, but whatever. Of course all novels are meant to be read, however eastern novels are made to be enjoyed... Happy with the change in wording? I'm all for this western pride people have but get over it, eastern novels just are better, it is objective fact, as it is objective fact that Japanese anime is better than Chinese anime. The ****** fact of the matter is that instead of reading western literature you are here on a Chinese website reading eastern novels, and probably even go out of your way to read more novels on other sites. Just leave this site and get kindle is western literature is so good, they have TONS of books available to pick from, you don't need to waste time with these so called 'inferior' eastern novels that you obviously look down upon whilst stroking your american c*ck. God it's hilarious how you take everything so personally when even an infant can tell America=TV Shows/Movies China=Novels Japan=TV Anime/movies. You can't win them all kid, some people are just better, get over it.

Lol don't get me wrong. I read more eastern novels than western and I enjoyed "good eastern" more than "good western". The number of western novels that I read perhaps can be counted with fingers. Buuuuut as much as I love eastern novels, I or we have to admit that western novels have less flaw or even no flaws because they have been edited multiple times. Thus in term of quality SOME western novels are better than eastern.

That is why I used the term 90%, which is obviously not a real percentage but rather me saying that some novels aren't bad at all, or even great. I will agree that western novels are more edited than chinese novels, however I believe the downside to that same problem is timeframe. By the time one book is made and reviewed/edited you could produce a few hundred chapters, or more, of a chinese novel that isn't that bad, with just a few grammatical errors found. I prefer more chapters and a few misspelled words than less chapters and better grammar/what not.

I'm at ch60. MC's motivation to learn martial arts is to woo his crush. Quite lame but I have to admit that's what people that age do. trying to find gf, texting before sleeping, etc

Hahaha what a racist stupid small minded comment! 1st off, u cant compare webnovels to novels. 2nd, u cant compare the East vs the West. Its laughable that u say u read widely. I've read Tolkien to Lu Xun, Dickens to Nabakov, Vonnegut to Zha Meng. They are all amazing writers that have unique experiences and thus unique perspectives. Ur opinion is worth about two farts.

Besides everything else, my comment merely states that eastern novels are better just like japanese anime is better than chinese anime. If you can argue that japanese anime is inferior to anime produced in china, or anywhere else, then please do so.... Because if you can't you have proved my point, that some things are just better than other things, western novels are only bad compared directly to chinese web novels.

Animation wasnt invented by the Japanese, in fact, the first animations were european. Anime is short for Japanese Animation which encompasses its own artistic style. It was derived from American animation after the War. Chinese animation is fledgling, since the state prohibited most westernized media until recently. It's like u are trying to create an argument about how the Erhu is better than the violin - once again, mixing apples woth oranges without historical, culutural context AKA racist and smallminded.

280 chapters in. This novel desperately needs an editor. Disciples become discipline, males turn into females, tenses get mixed up a lot and sentence construction is often awkward. Typos happen to everyone but seeing multiple such cases in every chapter quickly becomes annoying. Overall story development and character design is very average. MC lacks both a real goal other than "get strong" and a real rival. So although the fights aren't exactly poorly written, they feel dull to read because there is absolutely no suspense. Similarly his growth doesn't feel special as there is no risk or struggle involved. MCs master seems to exist only to act surprised at his progress. I do appreciate that his romantic interest remains relevant throughout the story, however the way its presented could use some work. Telling me what kind of emojis his girlfriend uses in her texts is just a waste of space. Not to mention she doesn't have anything going for her other than looks, which brings us to the next issue. A lot of characters seem to serve no purpose other than cheering in tournaments. They bring neither drama nor comedy, they don't give insight into the world, they don't help develop MC. Especially the female characters - typically to the genre, they exist mostly for romance. For a novel set in past, this could be explained somewhat convincingly, however for one set in modern times? Can't say much negative about world building as its basically a clone of modern world with martial artists thrown into it. However it does lack exposition in this regard - surely the inner workings and rules of society should have changed to accommodate people with supernatural abilities, yet the novel seems to barely gloss over such issues. TL;DR Overall, its not the worst novel, especially if you can ignore its weak points and glaring lack of editing. However, would I put it on my recommended list? No.
