This is what Birth of the Demonic Sword should have been but never managed to. This is a masterpiece. This is fantastic. This is god-tier. I literally finished the whole book in three days, all 500 chapters and can't wait for more...

LIKEI think the MC fits your definition of evil and he is developing as a character constantly. I liked the novel a lot so I would say to give it a chance.

I remembered the title of the novel God of Carnage, in the beginning the main character was pretty good, but the further the plot goes, the more my brows furrowed in disgust, and I don't remember what was the last straw, but I went far into the plot
This guy doesn't become a good guy along the line. If anything, he only becomes more evil and egoistic as he gets stronger. He is also extremely hardworking, which I respect a lot.

There is no romance and it doesn't look like there will be. The only person he was kind towards was his mother but she is barely relevant and (spoiler) she dies around chapter 100. Then, it gets even better.

Fair warning in the beginning the author used very similar circumstances so you will have a sense of deja Vu, but it gets better after the mother dies.
