His wanting to be a hero when he had no quirk but putting in no effort always bugged me. It's like he knew that his obsession with All Might would work out in the end. And he doesn't have a single shortcoming that concerns the plot. He's a selfless, courageous, powerful, intelligent, perfect golden child. And there's almost nothing authentic or relatable about his attitude toward what he deals with. In short, he's a boring Gary Stu. So much so that he fell in love with the person bullying him since childhood. Just a mid-character through and through.
