He's not wrong though, he can't achieve light speed as its impossible. He would quite literally be so powerful you would not be able to even see the light bullets he shoots out, even with observation haki telling you to move you'd be too slow to dodge it.

Lightning is nowhere near teleportation speeds.

I honesty cant remember much about this story but theres a different between feeling grateful and love. You cannot possibly love someone for saving your life if you barely knew that person at all now can you? But being extremely grateful I would get.
