To me, it feels more like his fully awakened cutie mark, and if you haven't read further ahead, you wouldn't understand, but his Cutie Mark is like his story it's being developed

I'm like 90% sure it's just one of the effects of the arrows just cuz we can't see the description doesn't mean it doesn't still apply this is his first time trying to put energy into an arrow that's why we're seeing it for the first time

normally you're supposed to leave the females so they can have more kids and the children so they can grow up and have more meat but this is the beginning so it doesn't really matter yet
