I get what you're saying, but I honestly don't think it matters in the overall theme of 'MC beats his next big opponent to avenge his family' thing. Not trying to be rude, just that it's been shown in this novel that 'Plot' matters more than making actual sense. So, going with that thought, MC beats Steven (or whoever the 'bbg' would be for that particular arc) and 'Hero wins'. Yet again, this is just me making some wild guesses here, so eh, I can be wrong.

Not the biggest FATE fan, so I had to look up who 'Gudako' is. What do you mean Promise will be exploited though, at that point he'd be a very powerful servant (I know Servants aren't all-powerful and can be defeated, but I'm expecting Promise will be in another tier of power at that point).

Calling it now, MC and Steven are gonna face each other when MC comes for the dad. Steven obviously loves his father, even knowing he did wrong. Why else would he be so conflicted right now if he was not? MC is gonna show his dominance on the Hoen champion in a way that the dad himself will beg Steven to stop pushing himself to defend him when he 'deserves his punishment'. After that, not sure, but I'm just guessing most of this anyways.

Didn't forget, I'm actively taking that into account. Didn't Beedril straight body MC's pokemon? Who's to stop the attacker (in this case Giovanni) from also sending out additional pokemon to 'occupy' MC's pokemon, then once they're all busy, Giovanni casts 'Gun' (or maybe the MC does, either way my point stands). Besides that, who's to say that a long distance attack couldn't work as well, aka like an assassination hit or something like that? MC only has power of veridian, can't stop an unknown bullet at close or far range.
