After a long time of walking around the Inn trying to find the room they finally came to a door numbered 836.
When Benjamin opened the door there was two men standing in the middle of the room.
"Forgive us, this must be the wrong room-"
"No, this is the right one" One of the men said. Prim's eyes dropped to the dagger the man was twirling between his fingers.
"Benjamin..." She whispered.
He found her wrist and held on tight.
"So you two are the human's we've been hearing so much about" The second man said as he started toward them.
"This one's got a temper" He said pointing the end of the blade at Benjamin.
"And this one..." His eyes were suddenly on Prim. "This one's strong...She might put up a bit of a fight"
His laugh sent shiver's down Prim's spine.
"Don't tell me your actually considering running away?"
Prim felt Benjamin's finger's wrap tighter around her wrist.
"He's reading my mind" He whispered. Prim could hear the terror in his voice.
"I can do more then just reading your mind"
"That's very impressive" Prim said backing out of the room. "But we should really be on our way"
"But you've just arrived" The first man laughed.
He said something else but by then Prim and Benjamin were already sprinting down the corridor.
"We need to split up" He said.
"What!"
"There's only two of them. I'll go and find Dolion you go and find someplace to hide"
"Don't die...Please"
"No promises" Benjamin laughed. Then he started down the other way.
When she looked back the second man from the room was on her heals. How was she supposed to hide anywhere when he was gaining on her?
"There's no use in running little girl" He taunted breathlessly.
Good, he was tired, maybe he would stop chasing her soon and she could find someplace to hide.
By the time she reached one of the staircase's she could feel his fingers brushing against her shoulders. She was getting tired now too. Her lungs were burned and her legs were begging her to stop.
As she descended she counted. There was only twenty five steps from the ground now. twenty four. twenty three steps. She could make it if she jumped. She just needed to pray she doesn't brake anything.
She took in a quick breath then thrusted herself from the sixteenth step. But before she got far she was yanked backward by the collar of her sweatshirt.
He held her against him with an arm around her throat.
"That was brave" He said tightening his grip.
Prim wasn't in the mood for conversation at the moment. She started backward slamming the man into the wall as hard as she could. The force broke his hold on her. She took the opportunity to spin around and elbow him in the throat like her father had taught her when she was younger.
But before she could even bring her arm up the man hit her in the corner of her mouth so hard she lost her balance for a moment and nearly fell down the stairs.
"That was also brave...But not very smart"
He pulled out his dagger and pressed it against her throat.
She closed her eyes, waiting for the moment the dagger slides across her skin. But it never came.
"Open your eyes Prim" She heard Benjamin say.
When she opened her eyes the world was tinted blue and the man with the dagger was frozen in time.
"I...I don't understand-"
"You saved us once again" Dolion said prying the dagger from the man's fingers.
"We better get out of here before your...Whatever this is wears off" He said sliding the dagger into a small sheath.
Benjamin helped Prim to her feet and the three of them headed for the door.
"So what happened? Why where they after us?" Benjamin asked Dolion.
"They were high guard's from Tenebris. Someone sent them after me"
"But I thought you were, ya know..."
"Me too"
"They were after us too" Prim said.
"Someone must know your here"
"Is that bad?"
"Your trying to defeat Mezereth. If you thought that no one would try to stand in your way you were wrong"
"Are we going to another Inn?" Benjamin asked.
Dolion shook his head. "We get to sleep with the monsters tonight Benny" Dolion smirked.
"Don't call me that" Benjamin sighed.
