Chapter 15: "The Lab's Dark Secret"

As I lay on the lab table, surrounded by the hum of machines and the sterile smell of antiseptics, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was terribly wrong. Captain Lewis's words echoed in my mind: "This could be the breakthrough we've been searching for."

But at what cost?

Dr. Kim's voice brought me back to the present. "We're ready to begin the tests. This will help us understand what's happening to you, Y/N."

I nodded, trying to hide my trepidation. But as the tests commenced, I realized that the lab was hiding a sinister secret. One that would change everything,

The machines whirred to life, and a chill ran down my spine as Dr. Kim inserted a needle into my arm. "This will just collect some blood samples," she explained, her voice calm and professional.

But as the needle pierced my skin, I felt a sudden jolt of pain. It was as if the needle had struck a nerve, or something deeper.

"Ow!" I winced, trying to pull my arm away.

Dr. Kim's grip tightened. "Hold still, Y/N. This is important."

But I knew something was wrong. The pain was spreading, like a fire burning through my veins.

And then, I saw it. A strange, glowing substance flowing through the tubes connected to my arm. It pulsed with an otherworldly energy, like a dark heartbeat.

"What is this?" I demanded, my voice shaking with fear.

Dr. Kim's eyes flickered, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of guilt. "It's just a special serum, Y/N. It will help us understand your transformation."

But I knew she was lying. This was no ordinary serum. It was something sinister, something that could change the course of human history forever.

"Tell me the truth, Dr. Kim!" I demanded, my voice firm but laced with fear. "What is this serum? What are you doing to me?"

Dr. Kim's eyes darted to Captain Lewis, who stood at the far end of the lab, his expression unreadable.

"Y/N, please understand—" Dr. Kim began, but I cut her off.

"No, you understand. You're hiding something from me, something big. I can feel it."

I tried to sit up, but the restraints held me in place. Panic set in as I realized I was trapped.

"Let me go!" I struggled against the restraints, but they were too strong.

Captain Lewis stepped forward, his eyes cold and calculating. "Y/N, calm down. We're just trying to help you."

But I knew better. I knew they were hiding something sinister.

"Help me?" I spat, my anger rising. "You're not helping me. You're experimenting on me, just like you did with those...those things outside!"

Dr. Kim's eyes widened, and Captain Lewis's face darkened. "How did you know about that?" he growled.

I smiled, a fierce determination burning within me. "I know more than you think. And I'm going to expose you, no matter what it takes."

Captain Lewis sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. "You're just a test subject, Y/N. A means to an end. And if you don't cooperate, we'll make sure you suffer the same fate as the others."

Dr. Kim's face paled, her eyes darting to Captain Lewis with a hint of fear. "Captain, please—"

"No, Doctor," he snarled. "She needs to understand the consequences of her defiance."

With a sudden jolt, the restraints tightened, digging into my skin. I gasped, pain shooting through my arms and legs.

"You'll never leave this lab alive, Y/N," Captain Lewis taunted, his voice dripping with sadism.

In a desperate bid to escape, I summoned all my strength and...
