I want to die!!! I've never felt so weak in my entire life, I can't feel my pulse, and my body is slow as a freaking geezer in their retirement. Lastly, I've gained this feeling of hunger that's making me question my morale, how did such a thing occur to someone like me? I'm just an average person without any special talents. Now I feel so indifferent, and that's not because of my race. Oh no, this shit got twisted, I thought a cannibal was bad, it doesn't compare to a freaking zombie

[Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep]

The irritating noise originated from a clock, with its ringing slowly but surely awakening the dormant entity. A slight tap disperses the noise following a male figure rising from his slumber. A skinny violet-haired boy and a dark circle engulfing his eyes starts his day as usual. His hand reached for his phone, to see whether he'd gotten a notification about a new update to his favorite novel

"Yawn... whoa it's a good thing I've woken up earlier than my schedule. Dark_flame always updated his book so early in the morning," Fixated by his phone, he goes on with his daily routine before he leaves his dormitory to set out for a long walk to his school. Along the way he found himself coming across one of the few people who would always talk to him in his daily life

'Today shall be the day that I confess my love for her! I don't care whether I get rejected; at the end of the day,, it's all about having no regrets. Plus, this is the last day of school before our semester break, I'm gonna make it worth my life. Instead of sulking around after a girl that I won't even come close to being acquainted with, it's best to let it all burn,'

The optimistic lad had no clue of what had risen on this very day tied to the end of their first semester, nor was he prepared. His day started and ended the same, no noteworthy events, classes one after the other till the day was nearing its end. It looked like an ordinary day as usual until he heard a commotion at their school's entrance on his way to his crush's meeting spot. What he thought was simply a riot would make his life turn upside down after he witnessed such a gruesome sight

"Sir I think someone's doing something suspicious on that gate over there," Leo pointed to a certain gate where he saw a few people making a racket on the other side of the gate

The racket they made caught the guard's attention and Leo, who's curious, decides to come along. "Oi! Are you drunk or something? You have to move or else I'll throw you out," 

When they arrived at a certain distance their vision became more visible to the shape and description of the person. Leo was disturbed upon witnessing a homeless man who reeked with such an atrocious scent repeatedly bash his head into the gate. The guard is terrified but he puts up a front hitting his baton at the gate as a way to scare off the homeless addict

"Sir, I think it's a bad idea to get any closer," Leo stopped midway upon catching a glimpse of their faces while the guards ignored his words and proceeded as such

"Kid, there's nothing to worry about. They're just a bunch of homeless drunks~ Arrgggg!!! My arm!" In an instant, Leo saw the hands of the guard pulled to the other side and met with its bubbling mouths and thus began their feast 

The guards' scream attracted the attention of a few more of these maniacs and their numbers would've been easily breached. The gate began to dwindle in front of these maniacs. It wasn't bad enough that there was a bunch of cannibals but the only line of defense was nearing its end 

"What the hell is going on!?" He wasn't able to grasp his situation and yet his body reacted before he could plan his next move 

His instincts told his body to run in the opposite direction after his body trembled with every step he took. Yet he didn't once look back once he gained a front-row seat of the horrors that befallen the guard. At some point, Leo fell to the ground and one of these cannibals sought a bite and pounced on his side. But before it could do so, he heard a loud thud and a crack he'd normally heard from a wood

"Get your hands off my students!" He was saved by one of the student-faculty teachers equipped with a bat. From his body fitness and precise movements, the bat he swung perfectly aligned with his target. Once he got up, he was escorted through the gymnasium

'I don't know what's happening, but thank god for the teachers! I might have a chance to survive if I stay by their side. Just what in the world is happening to this city? Based on their watery mouth and cannibalistic traits, are they perhaps zombies…? Damn, I didn't think a genre heavily inspired by a video game would've become true. If there are any similarities to the things in the movies then I can easily survive, right?'

Being saved after he was brought down to the lowest point in his life, he felt safe and secure with the help of the teachers. They weren't knowledgeable about their situation but they gathered everyone at the gym as their means of stronghold. Nobody knew how much was able to survive, even after the government leaked information to the public

It was later found that his assumptions of a zombie apocalypse were true. The report they leaked was about an unidentified virus that changes the human body to its entirety. This plague filled them with an unbearable hunger accompanied by their bodies that were completely different from human beings. They easily spread throughout the world without any explanations given about the origins of their situation 

Back to the present 

'After they gathered the students they could keep within the limited space of the gymnasium. A few students who must have been in contact with the infected either being contaminated by the blood that came from their scratches. Even a bite could slowly change a person without any kind of warning. I've found out that the changes would differ from one person to another,'

'Some we're able to resist would only last a day or two. And the ones that have a weak immune system will turn before they can feel their body changing. What about my own experience? It wasn't as delicate as the rest. I was eaten by a group of people, so now I know what it feels like being the food in those mukbang videos I felt so dirty, like I got gang ba**ed,'

A day passed and he roamed the school like any particular day. The only thing that changed was the disappearance of his positivity and the weakening of his below-average physique. Apart from internal changes, the world he once knew was gone. Society was fucked, after years of innovation, attaining peace and prosperity, all it took was a singular virus

'I thought I was a goner or I woke up to find myself in the afterlife. But that's not the slightest bit of the truth of my situation, I found myself waking up from my long nap. You heard me, I became a zombie but for some reason, I'm still right in the noggin,'

The gymnasium had never once looked welcoming, but the added blood and severed limbs here and there made it less appealing. The broken glass he peered through reflected the horrible truth: a disfigured face and scratches all over his cold mug. The left side of his face was mangled to bits, revealing his jaws, all the while being vague of emotions showing no signs of fear and discontent

'No denying it. I'm officially an undead, whether I retain my consciousness, I'm no different from those monsters. To be honest I never thought I'd survive for that long. I don't have that requirement to be a born survivor of an apocalyptic version of the world,' 

He heard a low growl with the arrival of a limp zombie making its way to the gym, hoping to find some breakfast. It disregarded Leo the moment it sniffed out the atrocious, pungent, decaying stench of a rotting corpse, signifying he'd been turned. Leo made his way to the gym's 2nd floor, and there he glimpsed as his school became a hotspot for zombies and survivors

'I wasn't athletic and had a normal build for a healthy growing teenager. No hint of muscles to guard my life since I mostly read novels. I did say something about surviving this whole thing but that's far from the truth; this is how I died. No matter what kind of life I get, a miracle came in the form of my consciousness being intact after my transformation. A bit of a turn-off, but if I'm speaking logically, I have no chance of surviving. This isn't a story about a survivor, it's about a zombie that retains his consciousness after he's been fully turned,'
