I walk into Rin's cave and he's not here. He left this place unguarded for 3 whole years, what was he thinking?

Damn idiot.

"Where are we dad?" I turn around and my son is looking around the cave with that troublesome curious look of his. Why did he have to be such a curious George like his mother?

"This is where very important friends are staying. We'll be staying in this city from now on to watch over them. My friend Rin disappeared too, I can only imagine it means he's protecting them, I just don't know from what."

"Oh, it's so cool. The house is really huge too." He exclaims talking about the mansion right above our heads.

Rin 'sold' it to me after the shit with his family went down. His sister escaped prison about three years ago.

Coincidentally with Yachi.

Who's dumb idea was it to make them cellmates?

This has been some serious mental torture for the Hiryu's, knowing that the people responsible for this mess are still loose in the world is a really tearing them apart individually.

I will have the house shielded 24/7 and I won't let anything happen to them. No one has ever gotten past my shields, no one will start today.

"Dad. Who is this? Uncle Katsu has a lot of photo's of him." He asks pointing at Toya.

"That's his big brother Toya. We are here to protect him from bad people." I smile and he smiles back.

"You're like a super hero." He runs around in circles and I laugh, a shitty superhero that helps criminal friends out, I'm no real hero.

"Let's go get you acquainted with the city, okay?" I suggest, he's on over energetic mode, staying cooped in the house will lead to some unwanted accidents.

"Yeah. I saw a Mr Snow Ice cream shop here. I heard this one has an arcade too." He explains so excited like he's already been there before.

"I promise you they do have an arcade in there. Let's make that our last stop for the day, okay?"

"Yes."

This is a really crappy plan Tensai. Using my family as bait is not okay, these crazy bitches will kill my son in the blink of an eye. I seriously, honestly, legitematly, hate this plan already.

"Dad! You're making that ugly look again. Quit that. Let's go."

"Alright, alright."

What ugly look?

Yachi

I relax sitting on the beach enjoying my drink. I always loved coming here with Toya, this is where he told me he loved me. This is where he proposed, and this is where he broke up with me.

Magenta is walking on the beach with her new best friend. Some foreigner guy stayed a week longer just to get to know her.

Go on girl get your happy life. I'm done with love, who needs a man anyway.

"Miss, there's a phone call for you." The house keeper walks in and I smile getting up to answer the call.

"Yachi speaking."

"Hey there Old Flame."

I hang up immediately and pretend that never happened. Only one alien calls me that. I refuse to believe that after so long he wants to talk to me. No way in hell. What could he possibly have to say to me after leaving me high and dry.

"Really babe? I knew you'd do that." He sits beside me on the beach chair next to mine smiling like he never left.

"What in the world do you want Santo." I glare at him.

"Come on now my favorite foreign mommy. I just want us to talk. Words going around that your exes are waking up. I just need you to find out where they are." He says and I roll my eyes.

"You know. I'm sort of relieved I'm here. Truth is, I don't know and I don't care. My days are number, the only thing keeping them asleep is my being alive. If I die they wake up. I was in hospital a week ago, that's probably why you're under the impression their waking up, they're not. As long as I'm alive."

He tilts my chin and looks at me with concern. Gosh if I fall for him I will kill myself. I am a fucking mature ass woman. Old flames will not burn again, no matter how honest, loving, and good they were.

Kai isn't getting any second chances, and he treated me like a fucking God. You're cheap scum, someone's lap dog, no way in hell am I bothering with you.

"Your health? What happened?" He asks.

"Parted ways on the wrong terms with a so called friend. She just couldn't respect my decision to stay here. She wants revenge, all I got in return for vengeance is powerlessness. I am fragile now, death is actually optional for me." I chuckle waving off his illusion clone. What a weak power.

He holds my hand, "I came here cause I heard what happened and I am concerned. I used to love being near you, you made me feel invincible with that power of yours, but I don't want you thinking that your power is what makes you special because it's not. You're special without it."

The clone runs out of time. He left something in my hand.

It's a memory drive. I walk to my laptop and check it.

It has birth records and a tree. He finally found what I was looking for.

Rei's family tree from her fathers side. Her biological father died three weeks ago, never knowing his daughter. Similar to what happened to the guy the twins mentioned.

Seems to be a pattern in the family too. Making it hard to put together a tree. I see why it would take years to confirm the accuracy of this content.

He also has a pattern of how my families power works.

There are those with alternate reality powers and those with time manipulation. You'd think time manipulation is more powerful, but it's really not.

It takes a toll on an individual. I barely used 1% because I could only handle using that barely 1%

Alternate reality users don't have that weakness. So the odds of Kaiya having my power are actually impossible.

The power skips every third generation. Kaiya should not have my power, or any power at all. She should be an ordinary human, so how does she?

Do these files have any way of explaining? He knows how I think. I know he imagined all the questions I would have and researched on it.

I spend an hour reading over everything so I can find it. There's something on Kai. He was orphaned at a young age, the Hanafuda head, took him in and has been like a father to him. There's nothing else about Kai, but he may be the reason Kaiya has a power.

I now remember Magenta telling me that Kai said his power is actually DNA transmutation. He can literally change his genes.

He may have had something to do with Kaiya, she is the same blood type as her father. So his genes may have instead activated the latent powers in her, or made them stronger then usual.

So, everything they said is true. I'm guessing the reason it skips the third generation is because they are too damn powerful. Because every second generation is more powerful then the first. It operated in 3's. like a clock hand.

However if that's the case there are what is called special births, those born every 12 years, the midnight hour, have even more special powers.

Midnight is pretty special in this family. I wish I gave a damn when I had the chance.

If I knew then what I know now, things would have been so different. If I knew my daughter was special maybe I would be different.

She's a midnight hour baby. She was also born at 00:01 a whole minute past midnight. I would have never missed the signs.

So it's not all bogus crap after all. Kaiya does have the power to do all of this. It's her birth right.

I was such a crappy mother.

If I can do some more digging I can maybe find out how to get my power back. I was born at 13:00 an hour past 12:00 noon. I am also a 2nd generation time manipulator.

I check more information. This is an entire novel, and I do not want to miss a single letter, not even a single comma.

Third generations in the 12th hour don't get their powers either. My daughter is a whole anomaly. She broke the pattern. It was all so perfect, she was supposed to be an ordinary human. She had a hard time fitting in for being different.

"The power doesn't just make every third generation powerless out of pattern. There's a pattern of violence in the world. Every three years it gets worse, by sacrificing every third generation, we ensure the continuation of our powerful people. Either wise we will get caught in fights and storms and be wiped out." It's a quote from a woman who looks really familiar.

"I am the mother of a third generation midnight child. Same thing happened to him, he was born with a power despite the fact that he shouldn't. Times are changing, We no longer need to suppress the power in every third generation but make it more powerful." She adds.

I raise a brow, "Who are you?" I ask reading further on for more details.

"I'm someone who's lived in the vault for a while. It's rare for time users to die, lately they've been dying and it's because of these Midnight hour children. They need to be wiped out. If you want to get your power back, get your immortality back. You need to kill them.

"When your daughter died, many of us felt power growing in us. They are getting stronger but the rest of us are getting weaker. It means that when we die they get stronger. Our hour glasses are getting smaller. They need to be wiped out. From now on every midnight child must be terminated."

I shake my head, are these letters actually addressed to me specifically? Well I'll be, he outdid himself this time, this is why he's always worth the money.

I chuckle, "I am trying to prove someone wrong, that I am not the monster they think I am. Sorry I can't help you. Putting my life at risk is not an option. So no, I have made peace with my demise. I'll live, for the rest of my time on this earth I will live and be free. I deserve it."

I tune out her crazy murder children talk, and keep reading. I think crazy runs in my family.

Power has really made people greedy for more. I guess I was greedy too, just in a different way.

I want to know if someone could literally have the power to see up to a 1000 alternate realities. It bothers me to know that I had 1000 chances to be a better mother and I failed all 1000 times.

Well, enough stressing out. I am enjoying my life on an island until I die. I will grow old and grey happy.
