Hi I am Jerod and my soul was transmigrated to another world by a god on her first day unsupervised. As you can guess my migration was fraught with mistakes. Join Jerod in his mistaken adventure in a new world filled with magic and mystery. He will travel with his best friend who is now an AI?
"Hilas Magic Academy offers Battle Magic, Magical Item Creation, Enchanting, Alchemy, Magic Spell Alteration, Dimension Magic, and Healing Magic specializations. Over the next six years you may choose any combination of specialization to learn. Just remember that your resources are limited by your rank. You also have classes that will be attended in home room each week so don't overload yourselves by picking too many specializations at once. If you feel that a specialization is not for you or that you have enough of a grasp of it that you want to move to another we allow you to change specializations every six months.
Now listen carefully to the description of each specialization.
Battle Magic specialization
The focus of this specialization is to learn how to use magic in combat. This includes spells created specifically for harming others or offensive magic, lessons in strategy, this covers strategy for war, duels, and environmental affects, you can also learn survival skills. This class is tailored for anyone wanting to join the army, explore the world, or to become a mercenary.
Magical Item Creation
This class focuses on creating items with magical properties. This class is different than the Enchanting class I will cover in a moment. Crafting a magical item involves taking a magical metal or other magical resource and molding it into a usable piece of equipment. This can range from weapons and armor to accessories and household goods. Many students chose this specialization for the possible wealth that can be obtained by selling these products. Let me warn you however that this is a very difficult specialization and not for everyone.
Enchanting
This specialization is one of the more common specializations you will see in the world. Most people say that enchanting is the bread and butter of mages. Enchanting is the production of runes that provide a specific function to be carried out. This can be used in a variety of ways for example, the cafeteria has high level enchantment runes in place to assist in ordering food. The more simple level of enchantment can make every day life simpler or a sword slightly sharper etc. If you are unsuccessful in other specializations being an enchanter is still a worthwhile occupation.
Alchemy
The art of alchemy is another specialization that is more commonplace than others. Alchemy uses different magical resources to create potions. These potions have many uses but the simplest and most used would be the health potion. Health potions allow soldiers to recover from their wounds when a healer is not available. This specialization is demanding however. It can be resource heavy anytime you are learning a new recipe. The good news is we will teach you basic potion recipes and teach you basic properties about materials and how they will react when mixing them.
Magic Spell Alteration
This specialization focuses on the study of magical spell diagrams. There are many spell diagrams out there if you have ever wondered about how these were created then this specialization is a good one to pick. Students that specialize in alteration examine the effects of arranging magicles in different orders to create or alter spells.
Dimensional Magic
Dimensional magic is one of the hardest specializations we offer. This class teaches the basics on short distance teleportation, space enlargement, and teleportation hall maintenance. Bending space is as hard as it sounds like it would be. If you are able to master dimensional magic you will find that the world has opened new doors to you.
Healing Magic
The healing magic specialization is also not for everyone. Healing magic requires the ability to utilize both light and dark magicles in some instances with pin point accuracy. This specialization will teach you how to heal injuries from small things like a scrapped knee to more serious things like an amputated leg. If you are unable to deal with blood then this class is not for you.
Whichever specialization you choose will have both in book and in class study. Our library has books on every specialization for learning more in depth knowledge on each subject. Note that you will only have access to the books for the specializations you are currently enrolled in at the time of visiting the library. Unless of course you spend merit points to gain access to more areas. The library will provide more details upon your first visit about what you can and cannot access.
Now let me describe homeroom to you and then I will open up for questions.
Homeroom classes will be three days a week. I will post a schedule showing which classes are mandatory each month. Homeroom will be used to teach common classes such as the history of our kingdom, magical history, and general magic knowledge. To start every class will be mandatory but as you progress through your first year you will find less of them required. This is to allow for you to immerse yourself into your studies. The class time will still be available if you have questions or wish to declare a duel. Duels must be officiated by your homeroom teacher aka me.
Now, does anyone have any questions before we break for lunch?"
Jerod contemplated the specializations trying to think of the best path to start on. Battle magic was a must, thinking of his goal to take down the sorcerer that he was sent to defeat. Magic spell alteration sounded like a good place to learn more about magic. Out of all of the experiments he had done at home he was never successful in casting a spell outside of what Madam Zell had demonstrated aside from his special Frost Lance and even that wasn't a new spell. Enchanting sounded interesting as well and thinking about the hot shower he enjoyed the night before Jerod wanted to make his families life easier at home. Dimensional magic, alchemy, magical item creation, everything sounded so fantastical. He had six years to learn everything he could and he just had to figure out where to start.
Everyone seemed to be lost in thought about what specializations they would enroll in and did not ask any questions. They were then dismissed for lunch and exited the classroom. As they entered the hallway they found a guide providing them details of where they were, how to leave to the courtyard and when they should return. Only then did many students realize they didn't know where they were after they had been teleported after the initial student gathering.
As they walked through the hallways to exit the building to the courtyard many of the students passed Jerod and sneaked glances at him. Many wondered how talented he was to be ranked first and continued on their way. Some had looks of curiosity, and some of competitiveness, while there were a few with looks of contempt mixed in. Jerod was oblivious to it all as he continued thinking about the different specializations and the best way to divide his time.
After a filling lunch Jerod had finally decided on a plan of action. Understanding magic better was the top priority so he decided that Magic Spell Alteration was the top of the list. Jerod felt that if he could learn the basics of enchanting during the first six months he could then switch out the specialization for alchemy later. This would allow him to get some tutelage in each and then he could use his library privileges to expand his knowledge of each subject. He decided to focus on two specializations at a time to ensure he was not overloaded. Dimensional magic would likely take a year or more to learn so he felt it was something he could put off for now. Battle magic was something he needed to learn but he felt that he could delay the class in favor of learning things that would help him in his fight in other ways.
If he could create his own equipment, his own special spell list, and potions and traps to help him in his fight then he would have a higher chance of success in the future.
With his mind made up Jerod made his way back to the classroom with Lindsay's guidance. When he entered he found the class gathered in different spots at the front of the room. The room was noisy but a few of the students noticed him as he entered. These students started to nudge those around them and whisper causing them to look over. This process repeated until all of the students were staring a Jerod.
With all eyes on him Jerod was at a loss. Just as he was wondering what was going on Travis came up to him.
"Dude! You are amazing! You have to tell me how you did it!"
Jerod scratched his face with a perplexed look. "Did what?"
"Did what you ask? Everyone wants to know! How did you earn so many rank points?"
