Reborn

As soon as Saurina had finalized the transmigration Jerod felt his consciousness fade to black as he felt a pull from far away. He didn't know for how long he was sunk into the blackness but suddenly he felt pain throughout his whole body.

'Wait! Body!? Was all of that a dream? What is going on? Where am I?'

Jerod tried to open his eyes but when he did everything was just a blur. He tried to rub his eyes to clear them but felt his arms being restrained. He tried to cry out but couldn't form words. As Jerod started to panic he finally heard a voice in his mind.

(Jerod, calm down. Everything is going to be okay.)

(Lindsay? Is that you? What is going on?)

(Yes it's me... Calm down. Now I know you may think that everything that has happened recently was a dream but it really happened. I died... And you... Well I guess you could say that you died too.)

(I remember speaking with someone and them telling me that I have a mission to stop a sorcerer is that true? Also, do I hurt all over because I died? Is that why I can't speak or move?)

(Well Jerod, there are a few things to go over so bare with me while I go over the details so that you can get the answers you need and if you still have questions afterwards I will do what I can to answer them.

Let's start with your first question. Yes, you did receive a mission to stop a sorcerer. Don't worry though, as we will work together to end his oppression of the people of this world. Yes, I said this world. We are no longer on Earth, this is a world that is very different from our own. You were provided with some benefits from the goddess Saurina to assist you with your quest in taking him down. One of those benefits is the SYSTEM that I have been doing my best to learn over the last few days.

The reason your body hurts all over is because the body your soul is in now was just born. I don't think I need to tell you that a small body coming out of an even smaller hole will sustain some damage. It appears that this world is not as scientifically advanced as our previous world causing you to have bruises on your body. You shouldn't worry about this though because babies bones are very rubbery and with all of the STEM cells still absorbing into your body from the left over umbilical cord will help you in healing faster.

Being a baby obviously you are unable to speak as you haven't developed any kind of fine motor control including controlling your tongue into proper syllables. Not that using english would be understood in this world anyway.

It has already been a few days since you were born again. So far what I have understood from watching the surroundings is that you have a family that includes a mother and father with four siblings. You have two brothers and two sisters and seem to live in a small village.

I don't understand the language yet so I can't really give you many details about them but it appears that your family is on the poor side that runs a farm to provide for the family. I say they seem poor because of the clothing worn and the size of the home. This could be incorrect as I don't know the standard of this world. So until we, and I mean you, grow up some and learn the language here we will just have to observe more.)

At this time Jerod felt his consciousness blank out again. This time however it was the unconsciousness that comes from sleeping instead of being pulled from his body.

As Lindsay continued to observe their surroundings she couldn't help but look at the sleeping baby Jerod. She felt that a lot had happened since they had come to this place. While Jerod was born and held she observed. She watched everything around her to the best of her ability. Once she knew he was okay and survived the birthing she explored the system that she had become. Keeping vigilant on the surroundings she was able to learn a few basics so she could be helpful to Jerod in the future.

The system seemed to be like a video game. She could explore certain tabs and find some limited information on each but it appeared that a majority of the system was unavailable for her to explore at this time. As Lindsay looked over each tab she felt that it was indeed a good benefit bestowed by a god that could assist Jerod in his quest.

While Jerod was sleeping Lindsay decided she would compile the information she had learned about the system until now in an easy way to explain to Jerod when he was able to stay conscious for longer than a few minutes at a time.

'So far the system has tabs for status, backpack, abilities, and magic. From what I can gather from the status tab it shows general information about Jerod.'

Looking over the status of Jerod at this time she found that she understood a majority of stats. His HP represented his health. When he was first born this number had reduced to 4/5 indicating he had received some damage. It appears that his health will naturally regenerate as his body heals.

The MP should be related to his magic. Since it shows that it is 15/15 it must represent the amount of magic he can use. Unfortunately until Jerod learns magic there wasn't a good reference for if this was a lot or a little.

STAM represents stamina, of course being a baby Jerod doesn't have much stamina. It seems that once it reaches 0 he will go to sleep. This may just be because he is a baby now it will require further research to see if normal rest will recover.

Spirit is very high comparatively when looking at the other stats that just have a few points in them. Lindsay decided that this number most likely represents Jerod's magic affinity.

STR, AGI, and LUK should represent strength, agility, and luck.

SOUL ENERGY was the only thing that Lindsay couldn't figure out the use for.

Next Lindsay thought about the backpack system. Since she had been researching for a few days she understood that this was a magic storage space. So far it appeared that she could put in any stationary item within two feet of Jerod's body. It appears to work just by consciously willing the item to go into the space. So far Lindsay had put in blankets, toys, and other small items. Further testing would need to be completed for size, weight, and spoilage. If food was able to be stored in the backpack easily then it would be a great help in the future.

The abilities tab surprisingly had more than what Lindsay was expecting.

The description for each ability however was lacking. The only information she could see on these abilities was the information provided by the goddess. Magic affinity improved the understanding of using magic, and the soul system is a tool in which the consciousness of a soul was stored to assist in multiple ways. However each benefit also tagged at the end saying more information could be provided in the future.

Lindsay felt that Jerod would need to understand more about the world they were in to unlock further information. She wasn't sure why she felt confident in that but decided it must be because the system was essentially her body more or less.

The MAGIC tab was empty at this time but it seemed it should be a place to record different magics that Jerod should be able to do in the future.
