Lynn smiled at him, soft and fond. "Even if we should be calling in actual agents to take care of this?"
"We find evidence of an actual alchemist, I'll consider our part done." Anderson stared out the window. "Is it stupid I don't miss the Bureau, but I do miss some of the investigating? Not the dangerous shit, I don't want to get turned to stone or shot at or kidnapped ever again. But little stuff, that might be fun."
"What, like cheating spouses and runaway heiresses?" Lynn chuckled. "You'd love and hate that in equal measure. You could join up with a private investigation firm. I'm sure they'd salivate to have someone with your resume."
"They'd probably take a unicorn investigator about as seriously as the Bureau ever did," Anderson replied sourly, letting his head thud against the window. He ate another chocolate, this one with a cherry filling. "Maybe I should start my own." He laughed.
