Working in a Nursing Home with a Hot Male Coworker (BL)

Kai is a 28 year old nurse. He works in a nursing home called Shady Pines. He works the overnight shift three days a week. He has been at his job for four years and has many residents and coworkers he enjoys. Recently, a new nurse's assistant began working, who happens to work the same nights as Kai. Unfortunately, the coworker seems to like teasing him. Liam, the tall, muscular, handsome CNA seems to have a thing for Kai. A slice-of-life boy love story set in a nursing home, written by a nurse who works the same shift in one. Yes, these things really could happen in a nursing home. ‐------‐-------------------- Some common terms used in a nursing home setting: ‐------‐--------------------- CNA - Certified nursing assistant. They are licensed to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse. They may assist with activities of daily living such as toilet use, transfers, showers and eating. QMA - Qualified Medication Assistant. Many nursing homes will have QMAs working. They are a cheaper alternative to a nurse and unfortunately are often interchanged with licensed nurses even though the cannot legally assess patients. They are CNAs that have underwent a special program that allows them to pass medications under the supervision of a nurse. Resident - For most patients, a nursing home is their actual home. The correct term for someone living in a nursing home is resident. It is seen as more respectful and humanizing. Lift - A device used to assist residents to and from bed, a wheelchair or the toilet. They are different types of lifts. The most common lift is a hover lift. This is used to lift a resident into the air then lower their body to a surface. This is safer for residents who are unable to move their bodies appropriately. It also helps to prevent workplace injuries. **** This is my zany BL where my ADHD is allowed to run free. if you are looking for a well-planned BL which has two people fall into a deep, soul mate, forbidden love which will prevail against all odds, please see "The King Loves the Court Bard" which I am proud of. http://wbnv.in/a/9diXXtk

I am Trash

"Oh my god, my favorite bitch!"

The heavy set day shift nurse used that for her greeting as she walked onto the unit. Her name was Kelly, and for some reason, she felt rather fond of Kai. She used to work night shift, but she switched to day shift because she's insane.

Kai couldn't figure out why anyone would switch to day shift. Sure, it would be easier on the body, but he would have to deal with creeps like Jerry and management's petty demands. He liked the little sanctuary the night shift provided him.

"Hey Kelly," Kai stated with a smile, since he knew he had almost made it to sweet freedom.

Kelly walked up to Kai and embraced him in a huge bear hug. She was much larger than he was, so he felt like he was being engulfed by a giant pillow. A giant pillow that has two huge, giant breasts.

He never cared for breasts. He really couldn't figure out why.

"Anything going on?" She inquired.

"Nah," Kai responded, pulling away from the hug. "Jack was shitting a lot last night, and Jenny is already gone for dialysis. Thankfully, the residents are all okay."

"Good!" Kelly grinned. "That's the kind of report I like. Hopefully it doesn't turn around and into a shitshow today."

Kai snickered. "It usually does. It's Monday morning, after all."

"Shut your whore mouth," Kelly stated with a dry tone.

"Sorry," Kai chucked as he handed her the keys. "Wanna count?"

"No," Kelly stated, annoyance in her voice. "You signed everything out, right?"

"Always do."

"Yeah, that's why I don't want to count with you."

Kai shrugged and sat down. He had to wait for the QMA (medication aid), who would be taking the other half of the hall. He waited five minutes, and she still wasn't there.

"Have you seen Carla?" Kai asked Kelly.

"She's probably going to be an hour late again," Kelly groaned. "Just give me the keys for that cart, too, then get your ass out of here."

Kai handed her the keys to the other cart and shrugged. "I'll see you later."

"Bye, bitch," Kelly stated, waving at the blonde.

Kai nodded and smiled. He was glad she was always willing to let him leave early when that QMA was on the schedule. She has a reputation for being late. It was a wonder she hadn't been fired. Then again, they had trouble retaining staff.

He made his way to the break room, where Liam was seated with his arms crossed against his chest.

"Hey darling," Liam purred in Kai's direction.

"Stop!" Kai frowned as he clocked out.

"Ready for breakfast?" Liam asked as he stood up. "I am starving."

"Yeah," Kai replied, running his hand through his hair. "I only ate a half eaten donut last night, so I could eat the entire menu."

Liam raised his brow and looked Kai up and down. He didn't believe him.

"You don't look like you have ever finished even a kid's portion," Liam stated. "Twink."

Kai scoffed. "Shut up."

Liam grinned and tilted his head. "So, I'm tired. Can we just go to the place next door? We can go to the place by my house another morning."

"Yeah, whatever," Kai agreed.

The two left the building and went to the parking lot. Kai closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the morning air. It would be pleasant, if he didn't get a big whiff of the garbage piling up near the dumpster. He had taken a sniff in a dangerous spot.

They walked through the parking lot, and Kai began to get in his small, blue car. Liam started laughing as he saw the blonde getting in his car to drive across the street.

"Why don't we just walk?" Liam asked.

"My legs hurt," Kai groaned, getting into his car.

Liam laughed at the statement. "You need to work out."

"No," Kai responded, shutting the door.

Kai placed the keys in the car and started it up. Without warning, he saw Liam getting into the passenger's seat. He looked down and noticed the blonde had a lot of trash on the floorboard.

"Clean your damn car," Liam frowned. "You're a slob."

"No," Kai stated again with an annoyed tone.

"A pretty boy like you surrounds himself with trash?" Liam asked with a smirk.

"I am trash," Kai stated dryly. "Every day, I surround myself with my own kind."

Liam frowned and nudged Kai's shoulder. "I assure you, you aren't trash.

"How do you know?" Kai asked as he pulled out of the Shady Pines parking lot.

"I just do," Liam stated with a small laugh.

The trash pile in Kai's car wasn't on purpose. Oftentimes, he would find himself starving after work, so he would stop at a fast food joint for a quick breakfast so he didn't have to cook when he got home. He would pretty much inhale the food as he drove home and throw the trash on the floorboard. He meant to pick it up, but he never got around to it, so it accumulated.

"I'll help you clean the car," Liam stated as he looked down to examine the damage.

It was pretty bad. It was almost up to his mid-calf. He was afraid of what vile creatures might lurk within the depths.

"Whatever," Kai shrugged.

He pulled into the diner parking lot and found a spot close to the door. He parked the car and watched as Liam escaped the mobile trash heap.

Kai had never seen someone exit a car so quickly.

Liam stood there and shivered as he waited for the blonde to exit the car. He looked as if he had just been attacked by a rat. He very well could have. Kai wasn't even sure what lived in the trash can he called a car.

Liam wondered what Kai's house looked like if his car was so disgusting. He thought better than to ask such a question.

Kai exited the car and walked up next to Liam. He twirled his keyring in circles around his finger as his green eyes looked up at the man.

The look Kai gave him made Liam blush. He took it the wrong way, though—Kai was just glassy-eyed from being tired, even though he may have seemed seductive.

"R-Ready?" Liam asked as he led him inside.

"Let's hurry," Kai stated as he followed the dark-haired man inside. "I'm ready to smash."

The phrase made Liam blush deeper. He was ready to smash. He knew he had the wrong idea on that one.

The smell of the coffee was comforting. It was the same scent that filled the air at work, except it was different. The smell of the coffee at work was stale. Plus, the work coffee was frozen concentrate. The kitchen staff had to defrost it overnight. It was debatable if it were even real coffee.

This coffee was fresh. This coffee was strong. This coffee was warm. This coffee was going to make Kai happy. This coffee was going to make Kai warm.

He just knew it.

Liam noticed Kai staring off into space. He waved his hand in front of the smaller man's face.

"Hello? Is your brain functioning?"

"What?" Kai asked before he snapped out of his daze.

"What were you thinking?" Liam asked.

"Coffee."

Liam laughed and led him to an empty booth. He started to fidget with the various sugar and sugar substitute packets as he waited.

A short, thin, bubbly woman walked up to them. Her gaze immediately landed on Kai, whom she obviously wanted to hit on.

"Oh, a nurse," she smiled. "May I take your order, darling?"

"Six pancakes with strawberry topping, ten slices of bacon, and six scrambled eggs," Kai began. "Make sure to put cheese on the eggs. Also, I want coffee. I also want hot chocolate. Oh, add a full order of biscuits and gravy."

It was a feast.

Liam raised a brow at the order. He never saw someone order so much in the morning.

The waitress seemed to have difficulty writing down the entire order as Kai spouted it off, but she somehow managed. "And you?"

She didn't even look at Liam. She just kept looking at Kai, who was staring at the table, unaware of the attention.

"An order of biscuits and gravy," he told her. "Three slices of bacon and some coffee."

The waitress walked off. She kept glancing at Kai from behind the counter. Liam noticed and smirked. He wasn't going to let her have his target. Though it didn't seem to be an issue with how unaware Kai seemed to be of his surroundings in that moment.

"Do you think you can eat all that?" Liam questioned the blonde.

"Yes." Kai could feel his stomach rumble. "I can and I will."

Liam couldn't wait to witness it. He was sure he would delight in seeing the smaller man attempt to make it through even a portion of the food he had ordered. It looked like it would be physically impossible for him to ingest that many calories.
