Rogue couldn't believe this was happening. He glanced at the others and urged them to obey as he turned around. "Obey the goddamn cops." He mumbled under his breath.
"Ivanna?"
Rogue heard a voice he presumed to be her brother's, which made him whirl his eyes. Plopping a hole into the cop's head crossed his mind, but he shook his head with disagreement.
"Handcuff these suspects." The leader commanded.
Like hell, they would. Rogue balled his fingers.
"Wait," Mr. Quinn said as he moved closer to them. "He's my son, let him be." The cop looked closely at Mr. Quinn and then at Rogue before nodding at his men.
"Inspect the area and bring evidence of anything you deem suspicious." The leader said.
"Yes sir!"
Mr. Quinn stared at Rogue as he spun unhurriedly. "What happened?" He inquired. "Are you hurt?" Concern filled his voice.
Rogue grunted a little. "A little, I think. I think I sprained my shoulder getting that fat girl to the shore." He rotated his shoulder to prove his point. "What about you? How come you all are here?" He nudged his head at his brother and some guards he recognized at the Mansion.
"We all saw the news and Roman wanted to make sure his fiancée was safe. And thanks to you she is." He looked at Rogue with an appreciative gleam in his eyes.
"I was close by when I heard the explosion. I never knew she was on the ship, I just wanted to save lives."
"I know." He turned towards Marius and Merton. "Are these your friends?"
"The good type." He responded and Mr. Quinn grinned.
"Good."
___________
"So," Merton trailed. "Would you want to tell us why you saved her? You aren't that generous, Rogue." He asked what had been on his mind since.
They were currently at the Quinn's Mansion, his father had insisted they spend the night there.
Rogue shot him a glare. "Since when are you a nose poker?"
"Since always."
"Go find a lad to fuck with." Rogue scoffed.
Before Merton could retort a knock came on the door. "It's me, Roman." The door was opened by Rogue and he brought his head out. "Got a minute? Or five?" Roman asked.
"I'll be out in a minute," Rogue said before shutting the door. "Why don't you two pick another room?" He didn't get a reply as he picked a coat from the couch and wore it. He steps past Merton and Marius and goes through the door.
He strolls with Roman towards the garden in silence. "Thank you." Roman broke the silence.
"It wasn't for you."
"I know, I just… you didn't take revenge or anything and still saved her."
"I'm not that bad, Roman," Rogue said.
"I know."
"Good."
Another silence surfaced between them.
"So, how was… the country?" Roman asked. One could tell the hidden tension between them. He was identical to Rogue, in body and appearance. But the little difference was their eyes. He had pale blue eyes, while Rogue had a form of piercing blue, the type that screams danger.
"Better than staying here. At least I was in control of myself."
"You aren't a psycho, Rogue, nobody thought of you as one."
Rogue shot him a glare. "I never said I was a psychopath unless you thought so."
"Never." Roman hastily blunted. "You do lose control sometimes, but you aren't insane or whatever."
Rogue didn't reply as he tilted his head and glanced at the fence before looking towards his brother, gazing blankly at him. "Prove you don't think of me as a psychopath,"
He watched Roman gulp with uncertainty lingering on his face, but eventually, he gave in. "How?"
"Allow me to point a gun to your forehead without being frightened." His tone was serious, causing Roman's heart to miss a beat.
That was absurd.
"What? You have a gun?"
Rogue shrugged. "For protection. What? Are you scared of the idea?" He cocked his brow.
"N-no."
Rogue nodded his head. "Good." He pulled out a gun and pointed it at Roman's head.
The poor guy closed his eyes. He could feel the heat coming from the guy, his heart was a mess. He waited for what seemed like hours and Rogue hadn't removed the gun yet. And then…
Boom!!!
Roman's eyes broadened as his heart pondered hard inside his chest. His eyes met the gun which was just inches away from his ear with smoke coming out from the tip. It is a soundproof gun. The gun wasn't directed at him but at the fence.
That was when he realized Rogue had shot a man climbing through the fence. Before he could react, bullets filled the Mansion as unknown people started blasting from outside.
Rogue dragged Roman with him to a secure place. "Run inside and don't come out. The same goes for father." Roman nodded. Rogue covered him as he fired at the gate and Roman slipped into the Mansion.
Marius and Merton appeared behind Rogue with guns in their hands.
"Who are they?" Merton asked as he leaned close to Rogue.
"I don't know. But they almost killed Roman." As he said, he raised his body and fired again, before bending down.
"Roman? Why?" Marius asked curiously, and he peered to see if he could recognize any of those people.
"Don't tell me your brother messed with the wrong guys again?" Merton groaned. "And why aren't the guards protecting the Mansion?" He found it weird that bullets were being exchanged and the trained guards situated in the Mansion weren't out to see what was happening.
Suddenly a scream came from inside the mansion. "Ahhh! Help!" That was the voice of the househelp.
And as weird as it sounded the firing stopped. The people seemed to be retreating.
"What was that?" Merton asked curiously, he turned to Rogue. "Do you know who they are?"
"Let's go inside. Hide your guns, wouldn't want the old man having a heart attack." They walked back to the Mansion and noticed a mess on the ground. A few of the guards were killed.
"Where is Roman?" Rogue asked the house help who was on the ground.
"T-they to-took him…" She sputtered. Her lips quivered like a leaf in the wind.
"He undoubtedly messed with the bad guys. Fuck." Merton murmured, cursing under his breath.
