05. The book

When they said goodbyes to their 'friends' everyone released their breath outside the great Dai Ling manor.

''Luckily he didn't choose one of our girls.'' One of the men patted his chest and others chimed in with a nod. They knew that he tried to find a possible woman for his grandson but no one was willing.

Not even thirteen and his hands were soaked in blood. He was not only wise but at the same time extremely bloodthirsty as the story goes. He even went to the enemy camp and killed the main commander in his bed and then came back with his head.

Actually, no such thing happened. The commander of the enemy camp lost his life in a direct attack, but there were many rumours about him around the city running wild that the General just couldn't even try to stop. He feared it will get worse.

Four people sat in the main hall now and stared at the strange book. No matter how they turned it, they never saw such a thing before.

''You said a strange child gave you this?''

Wang Weiming nodded.

''I was reading when I heard that girls voice. Then I suddenly saw a small hand appearing and taking one of the books. But she was not interested either in war books or country books. Even secret files she just put back. She was looking for healing books. So I gave her the two old books that were just gathering dust in the corner.''

''And you got this as an exchange? Did you see the child's face?'' Lee Meili was curiously looking at her grandson that has a strange expression on his face.

''She had a strange attire but her face, I can paint.'' He took a piece of paper from the nearby table and used some ink and brushes to paint what he saw. ''This is the child.''

Wang Weimin actually had quite a good hand and could express himself well trough paining. But not many people knew that. What they saw astonished them.

A girl with two cute buns and bangs over her shiny eyes had a serious expression, while behind her a bunch of books could be seen. Her fluffy cute clothes complimented her well, so the two women looked at each other with a smile. This child's eyes were clear and had no hint of fear. Maybe...

''What I could see was a room filled with books, from top to bottom. And some were even thicker than this one. The child seemingly felt bad so she gave me something else.'' He slowly took out the plate that he washed after that and the fork and presented it to his family.

''This...'' They looked at him with questioning eyes and his face suddenly blushed a little. ''She gave me a most delicious cake that I ate in my life. It was on this small plate.''

''You are really something. As soon as you see sweets...'' Everyone chuckled as they knew his preferences. If they said that to those people would they relax a bit?

''In the cake, there was a fresh fruit, that had strange seeds on it. I took the seeds and will ask our gardener to try to raise the seeds and see if we could get that fruit as well. It is so delicious.'' He took his handkerchief out and carefully opened it up and they saw a bunch of small dots on it.

''But what is this about?'' His grandfather looked from all sides and gave the book to his wife.

With shiny eyes, she opened up and then smiled brightly. ''It's a healing book of another kind. It seems it is explained how to heal the human body with some needles.''

''Needles?'' The general looked at the book with interest. If smaller things could be healed without using too many healing herbs, that he had to take every time he went to the war, wouldn't that help his country? And wouldn't that help people?

''We can copy this book and send it to the royal hospital as a present from an old sage we met somewhere. Wait, your father is coming back in a couple of days from the other county. We can tell him to present this as his own. Like that we wouldn't have to explain the book itself. Look, the pictures inside look like they would move anytime now.'' Wang Weisheng looked more at the pictures as he was not interested in medicine.

Wang Weimin just stood there and looked at the small plate that was beautiful on itself. His mother took the small plate and was amazed. ''She must be a noble daughter. So many books and at the same time this plate... Was she scared of you?''

He shook his head. ''I feel like she was ordering me around.''

In shock, she almost dropped the plate but he had good reflexes and caught it on time. Taking it away from her clumsy fingers he shrugged. ''Just a child. It seems she could see only one corner of the room and not the rest, just like I saw only one corner. She was not scared but surprised when she saw me. I think she was surprised as well after that door opened, or window better said.''

Song Luli saw him carefully putting the plate away and chuckled. It seems that the child made quite an impact on him. When his grandparents saw his careful action they chuckled as well but then concentrated on the book again. That girl is in the other world, so, for now, they can't do anything about it.

''Your father should copy it. If 'we' do that, it will seem too strange.'' Wang Weisheng just gave the book to his curious wife and made a decision. If this book can help people he was willing to spread it, but who would believe if they said a small noble girl from the other world gifted it to them. There would be even worse rumours about his grandson than now.

The decision was made and everyone anticipated Wang Weizhe's return. It was about time.
